Why hello there ^___^ I see you've stumbled across this poem ^-^ Welcome! This was a poem for my 8th grade Language Arts class instructing us to write a poem mimiking the prose of Edgar Allan Poe's 'The Raven'. My teacher liked it so much she told me to enter it in the Lit. fair, so I thought you guys might like it too. Sorry if it isn't totally related to Vampire Knight! ^-^ Well, please enjoy!
Lullaby of Lost Dreams
Hushabye, and close your eyes, and listen to my lullaby,
And dream of shining silver stars and gilded broken butterflies.
Fluttering their ragged wings and longing for the day wherein-
In melancholy onyx skies,
Free to fly-
Forever mine.
-x-
Dreams float past like silver mists while shadows dance in broken trysts,
Eyes that once shone bright as stars linger in an empty sea.
And the lonely street I walk is nothing but a barren sky,
As the shattered moon drifts past, yearning to be flying free.
"Walk home my child," whispers she,
Nothing but a memory.
-x-
Empty eyes see broken dreams and fairy hills and shimmering streams
That sparkle under silver suns while angels plummet from their sky.
Stars that hung on sable threads perish like the ebbing waves.
Knowing they were born to die-
Empty eyes.
Wondering why.
-x-
Rising now a breaking dawn, awakes to find the midnight gone.
Promises to start anew, whispering love's lullaby.
For where do joy and sorrow start? In the mind or at the heart?
And in the midst of rose-hued skies, once again my angels rise!
Dancing right before my eyes-
Beautifully broken butterflies.
