Aftermath

"Ginny... Are you alright?" Harry asked through the door. .

It was the first day they had been back to the burrow after the final battle. Harry had decided to put off this conversation until they got back, but so far, she hadn't come out of her room. He knocked quietly again.

Silence greeted him.

He turned the knob slowly and opened the door. She was sleeping, curled up on her side, her hand clutching an overused tissue. Careful not to wake her, he walked in and sat gently on the edge of her bed. He raised his hand and brushed her hair back from her forehead. She was warm and her cheeks were flushed slightly, her eyes still puffy from crying. He bent his head down and kissed her head.

"Sweet dreams beautiful," He whispered, and left her to sleep.

Downstairs everyone was seated around the table with a cup of tea. Hermione slid Harry his as he sat down and he thanked her.

"How is she?" Ron asked quietly, running a hand through his hair.

"She's asleep." Harry answered taking a drink and leaning back in his chair.

"Good," he sighed and turned back to Bill, who was writing neatly on a notepad.

"Music?" He asked looking up.

"He loved the Weird Sisters," Ron said, "and that band from Ireland, what were they called George?"

As George answered, Harry leaned across to Hermione and asked, "What are we talking about?"

"Fred's Funeral" she whispered back. Harry nodded slowly as Bill continued.

"What about clothes, what should we wear?"

"Black?" Fleur suggested, "It's traditional"

"No." A voice came from the doorway, everyone turned around.

"I think we should all wear some ridiculously stupid hat, Fred wouldn't of wanted us to wear black." Ginny said softly, sitting down beside Harry.

"Yeah I agree." George nodded, leaning forward. "No black."

Harry took Ginny's hand under the table and squeezed it gently. She met his eyes and gave him a small smile, which was enough to make his day. He hadn't seen her smile in so long.

As the conversations continued Harry tuned in and out. He found it hard to think about anything other than the small soft hand in his.

After everything had been discussed, Bill and Fleur went off to make some preparations and George disappeared to his room. Ron took Hermione's hand and lead her outside into the garden and Molly and Arthur took their tea into the living room.

"You look tired," Ginny said softly, tracing her fingers lightly under his eyes.

"I'm alright." he answered, "Ginny, I wanted to talk to you about...well about us I guess."

"What about us?" She asked, resting her head on her hand.

"Well, I was hoping, if you'll have me, that we could pick up, where we left off last year."

"Where were we exactly?" She asked quietly.

"I'm not exactly sure, but I think it was somewhere around...here" He answered as he leaned in slowly and kissed her.

God he missed her lips. Even in the chaos of loosing so much, it was an amazing feeling to know he hadn't lost this small part of happiness.

It all of a sudden felt like after being lost for so long, he had finally found a place where he felt at home. And all it took was her.
