Auggie entered the DPD he strolled through the bull pen area watching operatives come and go, saw them talking to each other and wondered how different the picture was from the one that he had had in his mind. After standing there for a while he walked through the sliding glass doors into his own Tech Ops office. He looked around and took in the whole picture. He looked over to his round glass desk with his refreshable Braille display and to the document reader on the desk top. He saw the wooden sculpture on the right side of the desk and he saw the sunlight shining through the blinds and giving everything in the room a golden touch. For the very first time, he saw the place that had been his working environment for so many years and it was a weird feeling and he realized, that what he saw had nothing to do with the picture that he had created in his mind.
He took a seat and his desk and started booting the computer. Whilst doing so, he watched a young blond woman walking towards the door of his office. The only thing he could think was
"Wow, what a pretty girl"
Seconds later, a familiar voice greeted him and he was at a complete loss for words, when he realized that it was Annie. His Annie, the girl he had been working with for more than 4 years. He had always known that she was beautiful but the picture that had formed in his mind was not half as pretty as reality was. Auggie´s face lit up in delight.
Shortly after, Annie walked over to him, placed a soft kiss on his cheek and said.
"Good morning Auggie, coffee at your ten o´clock"
And then the alarm clock on his nightstand rang, he felt for the button to stop the noise and realized. That everything had only been a dream. But at least in his dream he had gotten an idea what Annie looked like and how his office was furnished.
He smiled, rose from the bed, walked down to the kitchen area, started the coffeemaker and hopped under the shower. "It is going to be a good day", he thought.
