Nick Wilde has seen he's fair share of the inside of a cell for one reason or another. Not too big, hustle gone wrong, bar fight, hand full of other minor things, but never over a girl. Well there was that one time in middle school he got suspended for backing the snout of another fox for kissing his girl. But that was when he was a kid, he was an adult now. An officer of the law for a year or so, he should not be sitting in a jail cell anymore. But alas he was, sitting with about 15 other animals with a couple scraps and bruises, thinking this day couldn't get any worse. Then he hears the very familiar thumping of a bunny foot. He glances up to see his friend and partner, Judy Hopps. "Hey Carrots," Nick flash her a smile as he got up to approach her. He had to mover around a couples different animals to get to the cell bars that separated them.

"Don't Carrots me!" Judy snapped. Her arms were crossed over her chest and her foot was still tapping the ground, showing her ever growing annoyance. "I talked to the Sheriff, he's willing to let you off with a warning. IF, you apologize for starting the brawl that ruined mostly everyone's hard made deserts, AND pay for the tables and chairs you broke."

"Hey now, I didn't brake all of them." Nick insisted, he waved his hand around, gesturing to the other animals in the cell. "I had help."

"But you stared it." she fumed.

"Says who? It could've been Gideon..." Nick mumbled that last part, though Judy heard him just fine.

"Oh! Don't you dare blame him!" Judy yelled. Nick's ears went down as he watch the emotions play on her face. One moment she was angry, the next she was sad. Her ears went down, her nose twitch as her lip quivered and eyes filled with tears. "I saw…" her voice so small. "I didn't believe that you started it… I couldn't…" her eyes avoided his, it seemed like the floor was more interesting. "until the sheriff showed me the security tape…." she looked as him then, eyes usually held so much violet color, strangely had more blue.

"Listen Judy…" Nick tried, but Judy didn't let him finish.

"You started it and you were going to blame poor Gideon." Nick's ears pop up at that.

"Poor Gideon? Why are you taking his side?" Nick said defensively.

"I'm not taking sides Nick!"

"Sounds like it to me"

More fire returned to Judy's eyes. More like Nick was use to seeing when she interrogated a suspect. "Then tell me why you chose to deck Gideon in the face as soon as I left to help my mother get her cake ready?"

"Because…" Nick avoided her glare. He didn't want to tell her. Could tell her the reason why he punch Gideon was because he saw that way Gideon looked at her, the sound of his voice when he talked to her, the way Gideon call her more beautiful now than when they were kids. It could have been innocent, but when Judy walked away to help her mother with the carrot cake, Gideon made an off handed comment about if he wasn't a fox he'd sure be happy about being a stay at home dad to an officer of the law. Nick just snapped. His body moved on it's own accord. He didn't mean to start a brawl in the middle of the town square. Which apparently had security cameras? It's spouse to be a backwards town! Bet it was Judy's idea to put them in. To help out the small business owners that had petty thieves looking for an easy score.

"Because why?" Judy asked.

"Because… I don't know…" Nick sighed. I should just tell her. He thought.

"OH! NOT a good enough answer Nick!" Judy took a deep breathe, trying to calm herself. She then griped the bars just below his paws. "Nick," she said, getting him to look at her. "Just tell me why, tell me what's going on with you the last couples day, tell me the truth." her eyes desperately searching his for an answer.

"I…" I can't tell her! Nick sighed and put his forehead on the bars. "sorry Fluff, I just can't…"

Judy backed away from the bars and threw her hands in the air. "Ahhhh!" she started pacing the small hallway, talking a mile a minute. "You can't?! YOU can't? you mean you won't! Won't tell me why the moment we got here you started acting like a crazy animal. I trusted you Nick." she pointed to him as she continued to pace. "I invited you to my home town. To meet my friends and family!" Judy was on some sort of emotional roller-coaster. She was mostly angry but moments her voice would brake and she sounded sad. But then in the next moment, her fire was back and she started to yell. "I just thought it would be nice for us to have some time off to eat some pies and have fun. But nooo you had to start a fight with my friend right before they judged the desert for the annual fair." She turned her body to face Nick. "You knew how imported that was to my family Nick, its silly to most people yeah, but it was imported to us. And you can't even tell me why…" she started pacing again.

Can't tell her… Nick thought.

"Why Nick?" Judy asked again. But Nick said nothing.

I can't…

"Why?"

I… maybe I should…no…

"Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?" she kept saying the same thing over and over as she paced.

Nick was at a loss. If he told her the truth everything would change. But if he didn't she would be forever mad at him.

"I don't understand. Why? Why? Why?"

Ah to hell with it. "Fluff," tried to get her attention.

"I can't believe you"

"Carrots!" Nick tried again.

"Someone run in to me and knock over my mother's cake! My mother's carrot cake!" Just continued to rant.

"Judy!"

She turned to him. "It would have won too! I just don't underst-"

"I was jealous!" he yelled so loud that it bounced off the cell walls, forgetting that there were other animals in the cell.

"What?" Judy asked, thinking that she must have head him wrong.

"I was jealous…" he said again more gently.

"Of what?"

"Of the talk to Gideon..." Nick could see how confused she was so he continued talking. "The way you interacted, you talk about things I didn't really get. Like planting, gardening, baking. It was like I wasn't even there."

"Oh Nick, your my best friend, I never meant for you to feel left out. But they are my Friends and family." Judy place her paw on his. But Nick pull away.

"No, its not that… " Nick didn't know how to make her understand. "I love when you're with you family and they are all pulling you in every direction, pining for your time. Because you light up like a Christmas tree when they are around. And its nice that you talk about other stuff your interested in, because I love hearing about things that you like. I just…I just hate it when you're around Gideon."

"I don't understand…" her browns wrinkled together.

"He looks at you the way I do."

"And what way is that?" she started tapping her foot again. She was annoyed. She felt like she wasn't getting something and it made her fell like a dumb bunny. Which Nick knew she wasn't. He just didn't know how to make her understand something that he barley knew himself.

Nick place both paws on hers, took a breathe and said, "I love you Judy."

"And I love you Nick but that doesn't explain -"

"No Judy, I mean I love you the way…" Nick swallowed hard, he struggled for the right words. "I love you the way your dad loves your mom."

Judy's eyes widened "What?"

"I love Judy, I love the way you chew on your pencil and the way your nose twitches. I love you more than as my friend and partner. I love you in a romantic way…"Nick stared in her violet eyes, trying to read her expression. Which was usually easy as a kindergarten book. But now it was some collage mathematical book he didn't understand. Her face was just blank. Nick didn't know if that was bad or good. Several seconds passed by and he stranded to worry. Maybe he shouldn't have said anything. Maybe she worried that it would change their friendship or partnership. He had to reassure her that it didn't matter what she decided that he would stay by her side. "Judy," Nick stared, "this doesn't change anything and I'm sorry about every. I just wanted you to kno-" he was cut off by the sudden pull to his tie. Judy had moved her paw from under his and pulled at his tie. His shoulders hit the cell bars. Nick was confused until Judy pressed her mouth against his. It took his brain a moment to understand that she was kissing him. But when it did he melted into her.

Judy pulled away slowly. "I love you too Nick, " one eyebrow was raised and the other one was down. "how could you think I could love another fox but you."

"I am one of a kind." he responded a little out of breath.

She giggled. "Dumb fox."

Nick smiled. "Sly bunny." they were about to kiss again when they head an uproar of applause. They both turned and saw they other animals clapping and cheering for them. Judy turned a bright red as Nick just gave them a smug smile.

Note: I just could't stop reading fan fictions of these 2, so I decided to write one for fun! :)
