Dear Uncle
Since my escape from my father, I've wanted to write to you when I heard of your escape. I've joined the Avatar-sorry, Aang, and am now teaching him fire bending. I just wanted to write to tell you, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry for betraying you, sorry for every time I snapped at you for no reason, sorry that I was too blinded for my quest to get the Avatar I let my pride come before anything else, I'm even sorry that I threw your lotus piece (enclosed with this letter is a lotus piece I managed to get). And I am sorry that I could not say this sooner.
We are now preparing to fight my father, and I may never see you again. I am sorry for not being the son you wanted me to be. You were patient, longsuffering, loving and calm with never ending words of wisdom, which I never deserved and took for granted.
I don't expect you to forgive me or take me back but I now realize, without your help and support, I would have sunk into despair or committed suicide.
You were like the father I've always needed; I was trying to please the wrong person. I wanted the love, the care, the father son relationship of father, all of which you gave me.
My father was right in one thing, suffering was my teacher, but you were always there for me. I see you as the father I've always needed, but it may be too late.
Know that I love you and miss you.

I forgave you long before you banished yourself, I still love you and hope, after the battle is over, and we will meet again.
An one more thing, my first 'command' as your father is get yourself a girlfriend!! The throne won't heir itself after you're finished being Fire Lord!
