Hmmm… Well, I'm feeling poetic, so I think I shall write this!!!!! Plus, I need a break from mission to the Sound. (Which you should totally check out if you're a NaruSasu fan.)

Disclaimer… I am not Masashi Kishimoto, therefore, I don't own.

His life was spent in a tunnel, trying to find his way out. He helplessly groped for something that could guide him to salvation. Oh, how badly he wanted to turn around and go back to a happier time and place. He longed for his old life back. The memories of how things used to be kept coming back, taunting. He kept searching for that one thing that could save him, blindly reaching out for that one person that could save him from himself.

There was someone who held hope for him, a light at the end of the tunnel. There was someone who held promise for a new life for him. It was her, and only her, who could guide him to a new place, a better place. A new beginning that could clear him of all his mistakes.

"Sakura." He muttered her name into the night. It sounded so beautiful. In his eyes, though, there was nothing more beautiful then her. He wanted to be with her, but his decision from years ago had stopped him. His thirst for revenge had put a barrier between him and the rest of the world. He hated that he couldn't take her with him, but he needed this.

She shivered, though the night was warm. A strange sense came over her. She felt as though someone was watching her. She looked around nervously, but saw no one. She looked back over the bridge into the sparkling water. She thought of him. Why would his face come to mind right now? She hasn't seen him in years, and hadn't thought of him for quite awhile now. She tried to shake this feeling of loneliness that only he could bring up in her. No one else was capable of making her feel this way. But, she was over him, had gotten over him long ago. If only that were true.

He looked up at the moon. Suddenly he saw her face. Why couldn't he be with her now? Why did he have to be so foolish? He should have stayed with her. But like a fool, he let her go. He looked down sadly and saw a puddle growing beneath his feet. He hadn't realized that he was crying. He longed for her so much. She was the one person that could forgive him, the only one that loved him unconditionally.

She wished she could forget about him. His memory was a curse. But, she wouldn't dare forget, for it was also a blessing. He gave her a reason to live, to work hard and become better from all of it. He had also given her the best years of her life. But now, he ruined her. She felt tears suddenly start streaming down her face. She wiped them away, but they kept coming. She didn't know exactly why she was crying, it had been so long since she saw him. She had time to recover. She hadn't cried in so long. She turned and started toward her apartment. "Thank you Sasuke. Thank you for everything."

He felt warm, loved, like he had just been embraced. He walked away from where he was standing. His memories were painful, and he wanted to escape them. As he walked away, he muttered, "Thank you Sakura. Thanks for everything."
