I buried my face in my hands, tears flowing down my cheeks. The night was silent the only sound my choking sobs…
'Till The Moon said, "If he makes you cry, why don't you leave him?
I wiped my tears away as I though of an answer, looking up to the starry sky I asked, "Moon, would you ever leave your sky?"
The Moon was silent.
Crickets chirped and owls "wooed"
"No, I will not. I'd never leave my sky."
My laugh was humorless as I heard the reply.
"Well, why won't you?"
"Because I can't, I won't"
Tears began to trickle back down my face as I smiled sadly.
"Well then there's your answer. I will not leave him because I cannot. Because I won't, I made a promise to love him forever after all."
All too easily, The Moon stated, "Promises are sometimes broken." I laughed again.
"I know that all too well dear Moon…all too well."
After that, the Moon was silent. The night filled with crickets chirping, owls "wooing" and as I sat there I realized… I will not nor cannot leave him because we are bound together just as The Moon and Sky. Forever together, even after the end of time.
