Just a little thing I wrote.
Minerva McGonagall had not seen Sybill Trelawney all afternoon. This was not unusual for Trelawney, he preferred the quiet atmosphere of her classroom at the top of the north tower. Trelawney was not popular among her colleagues, mostly due to her strange predictions. McGonagall however did not mind her friend's strange behavior, in fact she found rather interesting. She knew that Trelawney was a very sensitive person and was as fragile as a porcelain doll. McGonagall knew that it brought her friend happiness when someone listened to her predictions.
McGonagall closes her lesson book that particularly chilly evening. As she stood up her old joints popped. Making her way out of her office she walked into the hall outside her classroom where she almost ran into Professor Sprout.
"Hello Minerva."
"Hello Pomona."
"I was hoping you would help me out with something." Says Professor Sprout.
"What can I do for you?" asks McGonagall.
"One of my students turned my pet toad Frankie into a dove. Not that I don't like doves but he still croaks like a toad." Sprout says with a smile. "My transfiguration skills are a little rusty, do you think you could change him back?"
McGonagall chuckles. "Of course."
With a quick wave of her wand Frankie was back to being a toad.
"Thank you very much. Where are you heading off to now?" asks Sprout.
"You're welcome. I'm going to see Sybill for awhile before dinner. Such a sensitive girl." McGonagall replies.
"Okay. Tell her I said hello." Sprout says.
The two women parted ways. McGonagall heads up to the north tower. Little did she know that someone had already been there.
Page Break
The old witch pushed open the hatch to Trelawney's classroom. The familiar scent of Trelawney's inscents greeted her as she pulled herself inside the classroom. The familiar warmth surrounded her as she pulled herself to her feet.
"Sybill?" McGonagall calls into the empty classroom not getting any response but the crackling fire in the fireplace.
She looks around the empty room for her friend. A small choking sound gets her attention. Following the sound she sees a puddle of blood spreading onto the floor.
McGonagall hears herself scream as she runs to her paling friend. Trelawney was bleeding heavily from her torso. Using all her strength she lifts her friend into her arms. She knew she wouldn't be able to carry her down the narrow passageway by herself but by the time she got help it would be too late for Trelawney. She was going to try to get Trelawney down the passage.
With all her might she carried Trelawney down the passage and into the main hall. She hears herself calling for help.
Professor Snape runs to the calls for help. He finds McGonagall sobbing, covered in blood carrying a very injured Professor Trelawney. He feels himself taking Trelawney from McGonagall and running as he could toward the infirmary. McGonagall was right behind him.
He bursts into the infirmary. He sets his colleague on a bed blood immediately spreading on the sheet. Pomfrey was at the bed in an instant trying to save the bleeding woman. McGonagall was talking a million miles an hour not even knowing what she was saying.
She was so busy talking that she didn't realize Madam Pomfrey had stopped working on Trelawney.
"Minerva, Minerva. MINERVA!" shouted Pomfrey.
McGonagall stops talking instantly realizing what the healer was saying.
"NO!" screeched McGonagall.
Snape pulled McGonagall into a hug. She screamed into his chest. He could only hold and watch Madam Pomfrey pull Trelawney's eyes shut.
"May you find peace Sybill." Pomfrey gentle says as she pulls a white sheet over the dead woman.
