A/N: This concept is from the episode of Justice League Unlimited, The Once and Future Thing Part 2, where Batmen collide.
Terry POV
We were flying over the city, looking over the myriad of lights, buildings that towered high. Then suddenly, down below, we saw the start of a gang fight.
At least we thought it was a gang fight. As we got closer, we saw that it wasn't any ordinary fight. It was an ordinary gang of Jokerz, but an extraordinary team of crimefighters on the other.
I had only read of them in history, and this subject was always hot. My professors would always argue about the ideals of heroes, about whether it was right to take the law into your own hands, blah blah blah. I didn't care. I listened to stories. The Thanagarian Invasion. The battle on Paradise Island. The guardians on Oa. They always amazed me. They were my heroes.
Still are.
Not to mention that I'm being taught by one of the original seven. Real schway.
Anyway, we joined the ground battle. I could see the resemblance of the Green Lantern to Warhawk, the surprise in both of their eyes. The Green Lantern seemed to know old Static too. They were three. Three heroes that had crossed dimensions.
Beside John Stewart, Green Lantern, I saw a tall beautiful lady. Wonder Woman. She looked just like the pictures in the cave. I always wondered why the old man had kept so many of her…
In the middle, a figure was just getting up from the ground. As he stood to his full height, I drew my breath sharply. The cowl. The cape. The belt. The aura. The eyes that would spell out a world of hurt. The insignia that I've been trying to live up to. Standing before me in flesh and blood. The Batman.
The old man wasn't exactly the chatty type. He rarely wanted to tell me about his days in the League, and I didn't want to pry. He'd just glare and ask if I was going on patrol anytime soon.
I didn't dwell on my thoughts for long. The Jokerz were attacking.
I fought. I was eager to impress him. Even while jabbing, kicking, punching, out of my peripheral vision I was still watching him. I admired him. His moves were like water. The Jokerz couldn't even touch him once.
I was tied up by the DeeDees. Static helped me out. I looked around. The Jokerz had become much tougher, and I wasn't sure how long the heroes from the 21st century would last. They were great, but they didn't know the future fighting styles. Maybe way back then, villains still had some honor.
I had to get everyone out. We had to regroup
Everyone was busy and protesting. "We're the Justice League, we don't run from a fight!"
At that time, though I didn't know it, I was channelling Bruce's attitude. "I don't remember putting this up for a vote," I said coldly, and took the teleporter controller out. Before anyone could go through, however, one of the Jokerz smashed the controller, closing the portal.
Seeing a quick flash of despair cross my mask, the Green Lantern hovered beside me. "Keep your head in the game, kid. There's always another way." He finally got us out, and we all flew out, with me carrying Bruce.
R&R please many thanks!
