Author: The first thing that I've written in a long time. Anyways, Slash. Spoilers for the Season 5 premiere episode. Of course I don't own House either.
You're the one mistake
I really didn't mind
So beautiful, unmerciful
It took me down
Too little and too late
See now I know your kind
You fake it easy just to please me
Don't you know
It's not like we haven't tried over and over again
Sleepless nights, wrong or right
Goodbye – Let U Go: Ashley Parker Angel
Let U Go
He was packing up all of the belongings in his office. All of the pictures and breakables were stuffed in a box a long with his nameplate and a stuffed animal. Wilson looked up the moment the door opened.
There stood Gregory House.
He turned away. He didn't want to have this conversation again. He hated it. Didn't House understand he was trying to spare his feelings one last time?
"Wilson- I'm sorry."
He paused. It wasn't supposed to go down this way. Why was House apologizing? Why-
Amber.
He was apologizing for Amber. Of course.
"That's not why I'm leaving. She shouldn't have been on that bus. I should've- no. You should've been alone."
House paused. Wilson's words cut into his heart. He was sure that no scalpel could cut that deep.
"Wilson-"
"I've enabled you. I've enabled you to be… this." Wilson gestured at House. He wasn't playing around.
"I'm leaving because of you."
House was right. A scalpel couldn't cut as deep was Wilson's words. For as long as they had been friends, that wasn't it. They had also been lovers.
Lovers.
House would never admit to loving Wilson, but he cared deeply. They had been together for years. Sleeping and messing around under the sheets of his bed.
Then Amber came.
Slowly, Wilson had stopped staying at his house. He'd stopped setting up dates. House wasn't surprised when their relationship came to a complete standstill.
Now there was nothing there.
House was speechless as Wilson grabbed his box. He remained silent as his friend left the office and started off toward the elevator. As much as he hurt, Wilson was hurting more.
The oncologist was definitely in pain. He had lost his girlfriend. Now, after years of enabling and loving, he had left go of his best friend and lover.
Sometimes… it is better to just let go.
