Ed looked around at the beach. The waves kissed the sand gently and the seagulls squawked to each other. Al was somewhere with Winry. "Looking at skirts, no doubt" mumbled Ed as he continued his search.

Ed searched the sand for any sign of glinting red. He had no such luck, and quickly became bored. He began to look around for anyone he knew. He saw Mustang out of the corner of his eye and screamed with delight. He hadn't seen Mustang in 3 months, and he had missed him so much.

Ed ran up to Mustang and gave him the biggest hug the Colonel had ever experienced.

"Ed!" Mustang yelled in a stern voice, "What have I told you about hugging me?"

"Only on weekends.." Ed replied sadly. Ed liked Mustang so much, but Mustang didn't know it. If only, Ed thought, if only he knew how much I truly liked him. We could be happy. I could be the perfect wife, and stay home with their children (who were adopted, of course) and Mustang could bring home all the money they would need. They could live out in the country away from all the war, and the gas. Maybe even in Risembool. Ed daydreamed about their life together.

"ED!! Are you still there Edward?" Mustang yelled into Ed's ear.

"Huh?" Ed didn't realize this, but he had been drooling on the san. In fact, there was a puddle beneath him feet.

Mustang started to walk away, and Ed followed like a little dog. "So, what are we doing today, Mustang" Ed questioned.

Mustang looked around. "Where is Alfonse? And Ms. Rockbell? I told them to meet me here." Mustang continued to look around. Ed felt disappointed. He had hoped that he could spend the entire day with Mustang.

After 20 minutes of looking, they found the two and the three of them left to go shopping. They had told Ed to stay at the café while they were out. Ed only wished that he could go with them. They never included him when they went out. Ed silently wished that his brother and his best friend would die, just so he could be with Mustang.

He waited at the café for an hour until the three came back. They were all smiling, but Mustang's smile was more of a worried anxious smile. Ed began to wander what was going on.

Suddenly, Mustang got down on one knee and pulled out a box.

"Edward Elric," Mustang began, "You can hug me anytime you want."

Ed silently cried inside, and took the diamond ring. He knew in his heart that thing were about to get a whole lot better.
