Just Like Me
Hal finds every trait of Kai's personality irritating. When he starts to wonder why he hates the new officer, that's the only explanation he can think of. The messy hair, the actions entirely predictable, the smile that hangs loosely in his face – though it only need a look of disapproval from Hal to it crack in pieces and Kai start to sob. Even every word he says, it's all too innocent, too good for someone who should know all about the cruelty and madness of the humans. All that makes him entirely insupportable and Hal detests every single detail of the black haired guy. But when he thinks about the other Kai, he begins to believe this is what he hates the most. It's like there's a 'click', or better, like a switch that can be turned on in some circumstances, and the worst is that Hal doesn't know how or why.
It's just a matter of seconds, and he just doesn't lose the smile, it's as if it could never have been in his face.
He can't see, he just looks to a spot in nowhere, like a blind man.
He suddenly knows what to kill tastes like.
And even Hal, that can read him like an open book, doesn't know anymore how to wake him up. It's somewhat frightening, and Hal knows he should be scared.
The other Kai is much stronger that the one he hates. So strong, in fact, that Hal fears the one he knows, hates, and considers so open to anyone will disappear someday.
Hal hates Kai for being weak just like him.
