He stared up at the sky, letting the water trickle down his face. The tumultuous clouds roared in agony, letting loose its burden in a new sheet of rain.

A strange, primeval fear gripped him. He had the most disconcerting feeling ever; an emotion that could not be expressed justifiably in words, a fear set into humanity since time unknown...

Something up there doesn't want me, he realized with startling certainty, staring up at the writhing gray expanse above him.

Where this certainty came from was as inexplicable as his fear was. He closed his eyes. Water generally made him feel secure and safe, but today there was a malevolent quality in the rain drops, penetrating his sanctum. What could it be?

A heavenly presence, he thought jokingly. Yeah, right.

He wouldn't fall ill, and both of them knew it. He could become dry at will, and he was continually perplexed by it, until the day had come that he could no longer control his curiosity and had showed it to his mom. Perhaps he was seeing things, but he could have sworn he saw a tinge of pride in his mother's eyes when he showed her...

"Percy?" There was an unaccounted note of fear in her voice. Percy knew instinctively that she was afraid for the same reason he was.

He turned, running towards the house.

And while he ran, he heard two things;

A calm baritone from the sea.

And a wordless threat from the sky.
