2/14 1500 hours.

Robin went to her duty locker and retrieved five heart shaped boxes of chocolate to distribute to her coworkers for Valentine's Day. She went up to Sakaki and Michael who were sitting at the computer terminals.

"These are for you," she smiled sheepishly then handed them their respective boxes.

"What's this?" the older hunter asked with a grin.

"Valentine's Day," the Italian girl replied. "Miho told me about your customs."

"You didn't have to," laughed Michael. "I still owe you five boxes of donuts."

"It's nothing," the fire craft user insisted.

The Chief and Hattori exited their office area, donning their winter coats.

"Excuse me," Robin called to them. "These are for you."

Inspector Kosaka seemed very happy to receive chocolates from the charming new hunter.

"Why thank you, Robinchan, that's very sweet of you!" the bald man said a bit too loudly.

"I break out when I eat too much chocolate," Hattori said, staring at his fancy box of sweets. "But thank you anyways, Robinchan."

The STN-J captain gave his assistant a glare. "Just give it to your mother then, Hattori!"

"Have a good night, chief," Michael waved to his superior.

"Robin, are you ready?" Amon appeared in the doorway, ready to give her a ride home. Vespa travel was out of the question in mid-winter.

"Happy Valentine's Day," Robin wished them all then left the room in a hurry. She clutched a white shopping bag in her brown gloved hand.

"So, what's the story behind Valentine's Day?" Sakaki asked Michael.

"The legend came out of Rome, believe it or not," the hacker replied. "In the third century, Valentinus was in jail and on death row for being a Christian. Allegedly, he healed the warden's blind daughter and sent her a note the night before he was executed. It read, 'From Your Valentine'. The following date was February 14th."

Robin sat nervously in the front seat alongside her partner, trying to decide how to bestow the gifts she had gotten for him. While it was customary in Japan to give all male coworkers chocolate on this holiday, Amon was more than a coworker to the peanut butter haired teen ager.

She decided to wait at the last possible moment to avoid humiliation, so the short ride seemed longer with plenty of awkward silence. As the car slowed, nearing the curb, her heart began to beat rapidly.

The dark haired hunter stared ahead once they had come to a complete stop. "Enjoy your weekend," he muttered softly.

"This is for you," she held the entire bag out to him.

Taking it, he glanced down inside seeing a large box of chocolate covered cherries. There also happened to be a small white package wrapped with white tissue paper and a pink ribbon.

"What's this?" he asked.

"Happy Valentine's Day," Robin told him, her cheeks flushing.

Their eyes met, slate grey to emerald.

"You shouldn't have," he chided her.

She closed the passenger side door abruptly then ran up the stairs to her apartment.

It took a long time for her to get back to normal, she collapsed onto her bed, mind full of tumultuous thoughts.
