Intro: So, one day I was reading some fanfics here on this site, and I decided to sign up and write my own fanfic, about the two things I like, Star Wars and Strike Witches. So, I thought, how did those Neuroi come about? And, then, my head added the Empire and there you have it, the main plot of the story. This is my first fanfic, please read and review, thanks.
Prologue One- An Imperial Idea
In a laboratory in one of the Empire's secret bases, a scientist pours over a desk containing crystalline honeycombed structures that were completely black, with crimson patches here and there. The blast doors open, and a thin man walks in, flanked by two Stormtroopers.
The scientist turns and greets his visitor, "Moff Kiril. The experiment is going well, soon these creatures will be able to destroy entire worlds. We just need to wait for them to mature;"
The Moff nods, glancing at a datapad covered with notes, "this is pretty impressive. Beam Weaponry, primitive intelligence, as well as the mandatory mind control. This will prove to be a great weapon for the Empire. I will name them...the Neuroi.
Two standard Galactic Months Later
The planet of Azubya was a resource pool, with mineral-rich lava on it's moons as well as carbon and ore deposits on the planet itself. The Azubi which inhabited the planet were also extremely strong, making ideal slaves. Which was why the Empire wanted it.
Five Imperial Star Destroyers dropped out of hyperspace just inside the Azubyan system, and launched several sleek black pods at Azubya. These were Neuroi seeds, which would develop at an extreme rate into Neuroi Hives, which then produced Neuroi to devastate the planet's inhabitants. Once the planet was weakened, the Imperial Army would land and take care of the rest. The Neuroi themselves would then self-destruct into biodegradable shards.
The Azubi on the surface woke up to an ordinary day, children played in the streets which were devoid of vehicles, while parents worked in the fields, with all four arms making harvesting extremely fast. Then, the sky darkened.
The Neuroi seeds, each about as large as two AT-ATs together, exploded in the atmosphere, sucking in moisture from the atmosphere to provide the water and carbon required for production. Within days, the skies of Azubya were dotted with Neuroi Hives, appearing as large storm fronts. Then, after yet another week, the semi-intelligent Hives had learned how to produce Neuroi, and began to do so.
After two more weeks, the Neuroi had shredded two thirds of the planet's population and destroyed any attempt to retaliate with their beam weapons. The planet surrendered to the onslaught, but the Neuroi were not capable of understanding this, and pressed on. Then came the Imperial Army.
The Empire staged several mock attacks on the Hives, making them self-destruct at the slightest hint of damage. Thus, the Azubi decided to join their 'saviours', and yet another planet was under Imperial control. It would have been impossibly longer if not for these Neuroi.
Following this victory, the Empire conquered planet after planet, expanding to some neighboring galaxies. Soon, their sights were set on one small blue and green marble in space: Planet 14. X, known to it's inhabitants as Earth...
Note- Earth is not called Earth in the Star Wars universe, so I just made up some random number for it.
