Star Wars or any of its characters don't belong to me. What if Anakin didn't turn to the Dark Side? Here my take.
Anakin Skywalker walk in the Chancellor office and see Jedi Master Mace Windu standing over Chancellor Palpatine. He look back and forth.
"Anakin, I told you it come to this, I was right, the Jedi are taking over."
"The impression of the Sith will never return, you have lost." Mace Windu voice bounce off the walls and his saber goes ever closer.
Anakin knew as soon as the guards will get here, the battle will be decided one way or the other. "No, no, no, you will die!" Palpatine send lightning at Windu, he block it with his saber. "He the traitor!"
"He is the traitor! Ahh!" Windu left eye connected at Skywalker and his eyes went from fierce to fear. This shock Anakin as Windu scream the very words, "Anakin! Strike! Do it now! We can stop this!"
Anakin didn't move a muscle and Windu blade slowly bend. His face was impassive, Mace knew he was experiencing a vision. Some where Palpatine died, some where Windu die. Anakin knew he need to see these visions to see what the outcome would be, the force is giving these to him for a reason. He snap out of it for a brief moment. "I have the power to save the one you love! You must choose!"
"Don't listen to him Anakin!"
"Don't let him kill me!"
Anakin is confuse, he look as if he going to help Palpatine. He hear a voice he didn't heard for 14 years but everything was in slow motion.
"Anakin, he a Sith Lord, help Windu."
"Qui-Gon? What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to make sure you don't choose the wrong path, you have two destinies lying before you."
"I MUST save Padme."
"Palpatine is lying to you as all Sith Lords do, don't make the wrong choice. He only wants you for himself Anakin. Your mother wouldn't want you to become a murderer."
Why did he had to heard about his mother, he remember that hard painful night. Anakin felt the world again and everything was back to normal speed. He see Palpatine lightning soften and he seem to be tired. "I can't hold it any longer, I am weak, too weak, Anakin, help me - help me.
Palpatine voice sound different and Anakin body shake. He see a vision of Padme being choke by him on a fire world then died giving birth, Palpatine been lying to him for years and he trusted him. "I am going to end this once and for all!"
"You are the chosen one and must guide both Light and Dark. And you can, you could live a happy life or one full of pain." Qui Gon voice went into his head. "You are the chosen one."
"I am the chosen one!" Anakin ignited his saber and strike at Sidious.
Palpatine knew his plan failed; all those years were for nothing, he had to activate Order 66 and fast, the powerful Jedi Masters were gone so he can easily wipe the Jedi across the galaxy. But Palpatine has to focus on these two Jedi and he spin up, igniting two sabers both red, he puts a cloak over him and said, "You could've rule by my side Skywalker but you chosen the easy path and now it time for you to die."
"Palpatine, you been using me all these years and I trusted you, I look upon you as the father I never had." Anakin said with fear and sadness in his voice.
Mace move to Palpatine and the two clash blades. Anakin helped his Master at striking Palpatine. Palpatine blocks the two blades with a laugh, Windu felt tired as Palpatine move to stab Anakin, he blocks it, Windu leap forward but Palpatine send lightning, sending him to the floor. He move to send more lightning at the tired Windu but Anakin jump in the way, he could've kill Palpatine and sacrifice Windu but that would been selfish. Anakin and Palpatine got in a vicious lightsaber duel, the two trying to push at each other, Palpatine gain the upper hand and grab Anakin throat and move his saber to finish him. Windu stood back up, and push Palpatine across the room with his last force effort, he save Anakin.
Mace Windu grab his saber while Anakin collecting himself. Anakin felt conflict again, he saw his Master losing a endless battle. Windu robe was tear apart by the lightning. Palpatine struck his saber at his head but Mace block it and Palpatine use a trick. He send his second blade at Mace stomach, he couldn't block it because his saber was focusing on the first saber. Palpatine send his saber effortlessly in Mace chest. He collapsed to the floor.
Anakin see this and whisper, "No." He had tears in his eyes, he failed to protect him and he save him at the end.
"He has failed and so will you." Palpatine mock him.
Anakin leap forward and strike at Palpatine, he destroy one of the blade with his lightsaber, he knew he may effect Palpatine but can't win not now. Anakin see guards running in the throne room, shooting at him, he couldn't win in all this.
He had to get out, he had to check on the Jedi, his beloved Padme, he see the window that Palpatine was 'corner' earlier and leap out. Palpatine turn off his saber and a smile came across his face.
Palpatine contect Cody who just aided Obi Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker Master. "Commander Cody," his voice ringed in the holocron, "The time has come, he spoke the very words, "Execute Order 66
A/N So this is a different universe, I didn't want Anakin or Mace to kill Palpatine, I wanted to have drama so I kill off Mace. What would the Jedi do? Will Anakin save Padme and meet up with Yoda and Obi Wan? *STAY TUNE.*
