Looking Back
Summary: What would have happened if she had looked back?
She had asked him if they would ever see each other again.
"I promise," he said. He knew he couldn't visit her. But he loved her so much, he couldn't say no. And it was worth it; that lie, to see her smile one last time. Besides it wouldn't really matter, she would forget all about him and the spirit world as soon as she crossed the threshold to the living world.
"Now go and don't look back," he said, forcing his voice to be clam.
She started to run away, and didn't look back. If she had looked back she wouldn't have been trapped in the spirit world forever and she wouldn't have been harmed, but she would have seen her strong Haku on his knees sobbing.
She didn't look, and she didn't see him there.
And she didn't forget him.
