Right Here Waiting For You

An unique two tailed fox sat against an old oak tree. His bushy tails kept swishing from side to side, as he thought about her. She was a beautiful plant goddess that came practical by the plant gods. Yes, she was a plant, but that did not matter to him. Appearance doesn't matter to him at all.

Never did he once think that she was an ugly creature, he actually thought the opposite. The young fox leaned more into the old tree, he could feel its rough bark slightly scratching his back. He quickly put less force onto the tree.

"I'm sorry tree," Tails apologized, as he rubbed the tree trunk in comfort.

"What are you doing?" Knuckles asked curiously, as he observed Cosmos actions.

She leaned onto the cold dead looking tree. She leaned her head onto the thick trunk of the tree. She narrowed her aqua eyes at the tree. Her smile turned into a frown.

"I'm trying to listen…" Cosmo said while not even looking at Knuckles.

"Trying to listen to what?" Sonic asked, as he just arrived at the scene.

"If this tree is still alive, I will hear its life force." Cosmo answered.

On that day, Tails always learned that plants and trees had feeling too.

"I miss you Cosmo…" Tails whispered in the wind. The fox watched as the sun his behind the clouds, casting a shadow over him.

The shade felt cold, dark, and lonely. He wanted to be in the sunshine where he could be happy. He is never going to be happy though.

He is always going to live in that shadow, never being able to enjoy the sunlight, never being able to enjoy life. Even though, she gave her life up for him, and not just for him, for everyone.

The part he most hated was that he never got to tell his feeling towards her. Just when she was about to go, he told himself that he needed to tell her how he felt, but he chickened out. Besides, if he confessed his love towards her, then it would be hard for both of them.

So he just decided to keep his mouth closed, but he did try to persuade her into not sacrificing herself, but she insisted that this was her destiny. He did not believe that, he felt betrayed, even though it was not her fault.

When Cosmo sacrificed herself, Tails remembered how lonely the nights was. How he always cried himself to sleep. How lonely he was in general. Sure he had Sonic, but there was still a big hole in his heart, that could never be fulfilled. Cosmo could never be replaced by anyone. He knew that for a fact.

However, after when she died, Sonic discovered a seed. A seed waiting to grow, to be nourished, to be cared for. It's like he has Cosmo all along. Tails slid his hand into his pocket, and gently pulled out the seed, the seed of a new Cosmo. He did not know when she was going to come back to him, but he still had a sparkle of hope, deep inside.

He gently pinched the seed, and held higher in the air, blocking out the sun that was above. He squinted one of his eyes to get a closer look at its detail. The seed was obviously small, green; it was a shape of a football or an almond.

"I'll be right here waiting for you, Cosmo…" He spoke to the seed, as if a part of her was attached to, which he strongly believed.

Tails observed the sky as the sun came back, but it did not cast the sunlight to him. He was still in darkness; he was going to wander blindly in the darkness, for now.

Finish…
