It had been a month since Thor returned to Asgard. A month since Odin awoke from the Odinsleep. Most importantly it had been a month since Loki let himself fall off the Bifrost bridge and into the Void. When Sigyn heard the news of her husband's demise she was heartbroken and refused to believe the messenger who told her. It wasn't until Thor told her what happened that she saw the truth however painful it might be. Her husband was dead and she was alone. She stood outside the door to Thor's chambers trying to gain the courage to knock. After debating with herself for a long while she knocked lightly on the door. She heard footsteps approaching on the other side and within a few moments Thor was opening the door.
"Sigyn? What brings you here?" Thor looked down at her quizzically as she fidgeted nervously, pulling on a strand of her auburn hair.
"Brother, I need to speak with you of a matter of great importantance." Thor furrowed his brow slightly; Sigyn had not called him 'brother' since Loki died. Opening the door more widely Thor stepped aside and motioned for her to enter.
"Of course sister, please come in." Sigyn seemed to relax slightly as she walked past Thor and took a seat on his couch across from the fireplace. Thor closed the door and sat next to her. "What troubles you so, dear sister?"
Sigyn took a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself but when she turned to look at Thor there were tears brimming in her crystal blue eyes. "I am very sorry to burden you with my problems but I did not know who else I could go to. I have felt so alone this past month and I have just received some unexpected news." She began playing with her hair again in an even more fretful manner than before. "I just do not know what to do, I cannot bear this burden alone and the healers are not exactly the most comforting people..." Thor listened as Sigyn began to ramble making less sense as she went on. Eventually he took hold of her hand not tangled in her hair and she stopped speaking immediately.
"Sigyn, please calm yourself. You can tell me whatever the problem is and I give you my word I will do my best to help you."
Sigyn bit her lip and nodded as she tried to blink away her tears. "Brother, I'm pregnant." To say Thor was shocked was an understatement and the news struck him speechless but Sigyn continued. "The healers say I'm 9 weeks along. I don't want to go through this without Loki. We had been discussing having children for so long it seems a cruel joke that I should become pregnant just for him to die before I could tell him." Sigyn was openly crying now her tears steadily streaming down her cheeks. Thor squeezes her hand trying to comfort his brother's widow.
"Sister, I know this must be very difficult for you but I swear I will aid you in any way I can to ensure the health and safety of you and your child." Sigyn nodded and pulled Thor in for a hug mumbling a 'thank you' as she cried on his shoulder. Thor embraced her tightly doing his best to comfort her. When Sigyn eventually stopped her tears Thor led her through the palace in search of Frigga because if anyone could aid in this situation it was her.
