Serendipity

"Two AM and she calls me 'cause I'm
Still awake: 'Can you help me unravel my latest
Mistake?' I don't love him, winter just wasn't my season."
-Anna Nalick

He is bloody, and underneath the shallow facade of determined indifference she is scared.

Scared of what is happening and of what is coming.

Scared of what he is becoming.

She is standing vulnerable near a crumbling building, and underneath his ruthless devil-may-care facade, he is hopeful. Hopeful because one falling piece of debris from said crumbling building could destroy her completely, and he wouldn't have to kill her himself. The blood of his past did not belong on his rugged, calloused hands.

Hopeful because, in this self-induced chaos, everything would be over soon and he won't have to see them anymore. At least not in person.

Hopeful because he is not scared.

She broke first.

"I told him I loved him!" she cried, taking him by a vague sort of hidden surprise. "I didn't want him to know!"

He is confused, he tells himself. Not curious. Not upset.

"If Konoha killed you, Naruto would never forgive himself! So I lied and now he hates me! He hates me!"

She is hysterical and he is speechless but for one word; a word that came out of his mouth faster than he could process in his dark, calculating mind. It is more so a command then the comforting he could not give her if he actually wanted to, as he pulls his sword from the sheath.

"Breathe."

Super Special Note From Moi- If you don't get the underlying message or why he said what he said, you'll have to ask me in a review... or ten? Go on, you know you want to. ;) Oh, and I wrote this like over a month ago, so it's not really about the most recent manga chapters. But they're so boring... And another question! Is anyone else going to Warped Tour at Merriweather on 7/20?

Hay girl hayyyyy~! Wait, I meant goodbye. Ehehe...
