Here's a little snip-it into Umbridge's mind and how she thinks. Everyone knows that she's messed up, but why? Here's my reason. Rated T for a reason
For the Hate of Pink
Dolores Jane Umbridge sat in her office in Hogwarts, it disgusted her, all that pink. She was not what people thought she was. Yes, she was cruel but everyone knew that, except Cornelius, perhaps. He was so short sighted these days, ignorant fool. She also hated children; this was all because in school when she went to Hogwarts she was not the powerful one and there wasn't anything that she loved more than power and control. She had a terrible time at Hogwarts when she was a student and when she found out about the teaching position mad open be the ministry she leapt at the chance to make other students suffer like she did so many years before. She had been teased by peers. This again people knew, it was not a secret. But there was something that no one knew about Dolores, the pain of the teasing; it was so much that she took to making small cuts on her arms and legs. It made her feel something other than the stinging pain of teasing. When she looked at her arms now, she could still see the faint white lines. She hated this about herself and wanted to get rid of it. That's why she spent the last twenty five years of her life trying to make herself into a different person. First she had tried dieting but she didn't lose any weight. So she turned to potions, they didn't work for her either. It seemed that her body was meant to be the way it was. She had to reinvent herself in a different way. This is why her walls were pink and she that those ugly kittens on the walls. She hated furry cute things. She went as far as to dress totally in pink as well. This was the hardest for Dolores. She felt sick every time she got dressed; maybe that was why she enjoyed making people hurt more than she normally did. It was hard to resist the urge to put something black when she was surrounded by so much of it at the horrid school. I hate this school she thought bitterly as she used her wand to make cut after cut in the crook of her elbow.
Note for those who read this and were concerned or offended, I believe that Delores is messed up cause of her traumatic time at school not because she cuts. Cutting was just her way of coping.
