There's a rectangle box sitting on his desk when Toby comes into the warehouse. It's pale blue in colour with a darker blue ribbon wrapped around it, a bow finishing it off on the top. There's something on his desk that looks like a present and he actually pauses mid-step, switching between looking at the box and trying to find a face that will explain why there's a potential explosive just sitting there, unattended. He tentatively steps towards it and hears Paige laugh as he does so. He moves his eyes from the floor and up to her, narrowing them a little. "You think this is funny?" he whispers, as though a sound could detonate whatever could be in side.
Paige nods. "Yeah, a little bit." She has her arms crossed and she's leaning against one of the columns scattered about the place, having seen him come in and knowing she wanted to see him open it.
The grin on her face never dims so Toby straightens and walks the last few metres to his chair. He takes a seat as he takes off his satchel and places it on the desk, the furthest away from the box as possible. "How long has it been here?" he asks.
She shrugs. "Was here before I was."
"Has anyone checked it for any danger?"
Paige snorts. "Sylvester did, actually. He didn't find anything."
Toby breathes a sigh of relief, one he'd known he'd been holding. "Why didn't you start with that?"
She shrugs again, her face alight with amusement. "It was funny watching you freak out."
He rolls his eyes. "I'm glad you've found your entertainment for today." He picks up the box from either side and gives it a shake near his ear. It doesn't make a sound. "Has anyone opened it?"
"Walter tried to but I hit him on the arm and he put it down."
"I'm hoping that was after Sylvester checked it."
"It was."
Toby takes a deep breath when Paige doesn't say anything else and places it back on the desk. He gives Paige a glance before he takes either end of the ribbon and pulls it away. He unwraps the pale blue wrapping paper and rolls his eyes when what's inside is uncovered. "Of course, because why would you want to immediately know what's underneath?" he asks rhetorically. Paige takes a step forward to see what he's talking about and bites her lip to keep from laughing when she sees. An actual box sits there, unopened and with no brand name on it. He looks up at her. "Are you sure Sylvester checked for anything that could cause serious harm?"
The biting of her lip fails and she laughs. "I swear to you."
"Okay," he murmurs to himself. The box is one of those ones where they only open from the top so he pulls out the little tab keeping it in place and lifts up the lid with one eye squeezed shut. A huge breath comes out of his mouth as his eyes find what's inside. "A hat!" he says, loud enough for everyone in L.A to hear. He immediately grabs it out of the box and puts it where it belongs.
"Your other one ran away in Bosnia!" a voice calls down from the second floor. Toby's eyes flick up and they meet the chocolate coloured ones he's come to greatly admire. Whoever granted her that name, was clearly someone who could see the future, because when he looks at her, he's the happiest he's ever been.
