Relena: Operation Nanny.

"But…why?" The braided youth accentuated the last word by holding onto the syllable for an impossibly long time.

"Why can't I go with Quatre?" His arms were crossed at his chest and his growing braid hung loose down his back.

Duo was thirteen, just thirteen in fact, as he would proudly tell you. He was an adult now. And as such he should be allowed to go wherever he wanted with anyone he wanted.

Mean old Relena, Nanny Relena, thought differently.

"'Cause he's an older boy and he's…" she wrung her hands trying to think of an easy way to tell young Duo that he wasn't as wealthy as the Winner family.

"Just say it, lady! Just tell me you don't love me like you love Quatre!"

The young boy threw his arms in the air and fell onto the floor, crossing his legs into Indian style, his lips protruding in an epic pout.

"What? That's not it at all Duo!" She sighed loudly and was about to speak again when she felt a light tug at her hip.

"'Eena." The voice was soft but completely void of emotion. An unnerving monotone.

"Yes, Heero?"

"I think…" the 12 year old boy with chocolate hair continued. His lips were pursed tight and one finger was at his mouth. "I think…"

Relena sighed. She didn't have the time for this. Heero often got stuck trying to talk about his feelings.

"I think that…Trowa. He…smells funny!" A maniacal high pitched giggle erupted from the normally stoic boy as he ran off.

A young boy of 11, with emerald green eyes, was on his trail. Tears were streaming down his face, "You know I can't help it Eeo!"

Duos' obviously fake pout took a turn into a wry grin at his friends jest. "Hey that was funny huh?"

"I thought you were upset?"

Duo shrugged and got to his feet, "Quatre can have fun with his poopy circus. I don't need it…cause Trowa smells like poopy!" He giggled furiously and ran off to join in the chase.

Relena took a step forward, sighed, and decided that if they wrestled it would just make them tired enough to sleep better that night.

She walked over and took a seat delicately at one of the mini tables where the kids would play with play-dough and legos and relaxed in the mini hot pink chair, Quatres favorite.

She glanced at the clock, four thirty, almost time for dinner. She shuddered. Dinner was always hard.

"What ya thinkin 'bout Miss Lena?" Wufei Chang ambled over. Elegantly dressed in the finest Asian garb he could find, only marred by the grass stains from wrestling that morning.

He took a seat across from her. Relenas favorite child to watch. WuFei was a raven haired youth of twelve. He was introspective and would often spend time reading in the corner or out in the garden. He and Quatre had grown close in their solitude.

"Oh nothing Wufei. It's just been a busy day is all!" Relena picked up the end of her sentence to fake a cheery tone.

Wufei just stared through his glasses. "You're upset?"

She took a breath to respond, "Do you have a boyfriend?"

She gave him a lopsided look, "Not that it matters, but no, thank you."

He nodded slowly, "Could I be your boyfriend?"

She rolled her eyes. This had happened with each of the kids. One by one they each had, innocently, asked her out or proposed to her. It was quite endearing.

She smiled and pulled him closer into a little hug. "Ya know what Wufei? I think I'd like that. But you're a little young for me. How bout we just be best friends for now?"

He looked at her, slightly pensive, "Ok…but...someday?"

In his own way Wufei always gave 100 into anything he was talking about.

"Definitely. Now why don't we go get dinner ready?"

He brightened. Wufei loved cooking. She took his hand and led him towards the kitchen. Another day as a nanny. But it was always worth it.
