The Life and Times of the Thief of Eddis
Act One: Chapter One: The Death of a Queen
One silent tear coursed down the pale face of a young raven- haired woman standing over an open grave. A month old babe slept in her arms unaware of the grieved ceremony that took place around him. A strong arm held the slight figure of the woman in an embrace. She leaned into her husband while looking over to the babe that was in the embrace of her brother-in-law.
The King of Eddis would not know how to take care of a child, much less a baby girl, on his own. Only a week old and she had already lost her mother.
She remembered when the queen died. The Queen spoke to her for the last time…
A strong hand grabbed onto the collar of a damp, bright yellow shirt.
"Hephestia," whispered the small woman lying on a now dirty bed.
"Yes, My Queen?" answered Hephestia.
"Is it a boy?" A hopeful look pasted the Queen's over bright blue eyes.
Hephestia gently released the tight hold of her shirt. Then a slim gentle hand wiped away the black hair with stuck to the queen's forehead. A servant woman came over the queen and held the child out. Hephestia took the babe and showed her the pink sleeping face of a baby girl. The queen cried.
"I know My King wanted a boy, but this girl is going to be the queen of queens. Helen," whispered the queen after the babe was put into her waiting arms. "Helen. My dear sweet girl, Helen." The queen kissed Helen on the cheek then the queen cried.
"Hephestia, I'm not going to be here much longer. My life has been fulfilled. The goddess, Moira, told me so in a dream last night. I was to give birth to a ruler, then… then die." A smile spade across the Queen of Eddis's pale lips.
Hephestia felt tears running down her face. She knew there was nothing she could do, nothing she could steal to make the queen live longer.
"Tell her, tell Helen I love her. I love her so much." And the queen took her eyes off of her baby girl to look at the young Thief of Eddis. "And I love you too, My Thief"
The babe started to cry out loud as the Queen of Eddis died.
So I know that it is short but it did end well I think... please tell me what you think good or bad... chapter two is being worked on... I will try my best to have it up soon...
