A/N: The long awaited second part (haha that's funny) to Her.
"Jethro, I'm going out with a girlfriend for a while. Don't wait up." Jenny called, walking towards the front door. She was wearing tight black pants, a colorful blouse, and a khaki blazer. Gibbs made an understanding noise from the basement, and she stepped out the door. Gibbs, from the basement, was sanding an arch of wood. He sighed, reached for a Mason jar and dumped out the contents. He poured in amber liquid from a tumbler of bourbon, and wondered which of her girlfriends it was this time. Stacy? Holly? Lauren? She always seemed to be out, whether it be for her job, having the apparently attractive Director of the FBI buy her lunch, or out for a movie with a friend. But Gibbs wasn't jealous. He had plenty of friends. Fornell, and….screw it.
"Hey Gibbs!" A deep voice from the top of the stairs yelled. Gibbs looked up. Tobias Fornell stood there, wearing a T-shirt and jeans. He descended the stairs and grabbed the bottle of bourbon.
"Diane's out." He grumbled. "With a friend." Fornell looked around. "Apparently Jenny is too." Gibbs shrugged in agreement.
"You here for the alcohol or are you gonna help?" Gibbs asked, holding out a sander.
"I'm not gonna sand your boat Gibbs. Or whatever the hell you're building nowadays," muttered Fornell. "Where do you think Jenny is?" Gibbs shrugged. "Diane wouldn't tell me where she's goin'."
"Don't care where Jenny is. She's having fun."
"Gibbs…" Fornell said suddenly. He was sitting on a wooden stool with his legs crossed. "What if they're together?"
"Who?"
"Diane and Jenny!" Fornell exclaimed. "I can see it-they're at a bar right now, talking 'bout us!" Gibbs shook his head.
"Yes! What'd'ya think they're saying, Gibbs?"
"Probably that you're an idiot, Tobias." Gibbs muttered under his breath.
"No seriously! I can't believe it Gibbs, our ladies are on a date!"
"They're not on a date, Tobias. Although it is better than when Jen has to go to dinner with the director of the FBI," admitted Gibbs.
"Really? He's a joke! But admittedly attractive," Fornell said. "Diane's came to the building a couple 'a times and couldn't keep her eyes of of him!"
"Yeah. I mean, Jen's never said anything."
"Course not. You're not bad yourself, old man."
"Ah jeez, shut up Tobias."
"Do you think they've figured it out yet?" Diane murmured, giggling like a twelve year old.
"Oh definitely. Bet they're in Jethro's basement right now, gossiping." Jenny replied.
"I bet that Tobias left the house the second after I did," said Diane.
"And Jethro's probably convinced him to sand something." Jenny laughed. Diane lost it, and they both ordered another glass of red wine.
"We should do this more often, Director. It's been a pleasure." Diane said, shaking Jenny's hand.
"All business," the other redhead said in response with a wink. "But of course this never happened."
"Of course! Actually, I'm thinking about volunteered for that NCIS/FBI joint investigation you started recently...they could probably use an IRS rep…."
A/N: Well that was fun. I kinda like this universe. Diane and Jenny as friends...was it out of character? Would you like a multi-chapter backstory?
