"Wait up will ya!" John gasped, jogging to keep up with the dark haired man. Sherlock stopped.
"Really John? This case isn't going to solve itself," he muttered. The shorter man glared at him.
"You know, not all of us are blessed with inhumanly long legs, right?"
"It's your fault for being short," Sherlock snapped back. John rolled his eyes.
They started towards the morgue when from out of nowhere, what looked like a caped man wrestling another very pale and darkly dressed man, fell out of the sky.
"Shit!" John grabbed the back of Sherlock's coat and pulled him out of the way. Right before the falling men hit the ground, they seemed to simply vanish. It was as if they fell right through the sidewalk.
"You can let go now," said Sherlock. John released his tight grip
"What the hell was that?!"
"By the looks of it, the man they call Thor."
John gasped."You mean a superhero? Like one of those guys from New York?"
Sherlock rolled his eyes. "Damn SHIELD," he mumbled to himself.
The doctor raised an eyebrow. "What was that?"
"Nothing John. We have more important things to worry about"
John nodded. "Right, I guess that explains all that weird weather and lightening and such…" He shrugged his shoulders and the pair continued on their way.
…
Sherlock closed his eyes, lost in the music flowing from the violin he held on his shoulder. It was one o'clock in the morning and John had gone to bed hours ago.
Ah, yes…here comes the crescendo, he thought to himself. His fingers skillfully glided over the strings.
As the end of the piece drew nearer, he heard a faint rumbling coming from outside. With a sigh, he put down the instrument and walked to the window. He pulled the curtains back.
Faintly, he could see the silhouette of something large coming from the end of the street. As it got closer, Sherlock's jaw dropped. A giant blue creature came barreling past the front of the building and down the street. Sherlock watched in amazement until it was fully out of site.
"Either I've started using again without knowing it, or else what I just witnessed was real. I'm going to have to give Mr. Fury a call," he said to himself.
He pulled out his mobile and dialed the number he had so longingly avoided calling.
