This is a quick one shot.
I stood on my balcony staring out onto the field. The moon's silver hue danced on the waters of Lake Hylia and the stars shone brighter than I even thought possible. He said he would return within a day or two, but now, I wasn't so sure. I was afraid. It had been four days since he left. When he would return, I didn't have a clue. I felt a warm tear fall slowly down my cheek. I wiped it off with my gloved hand. It remained on my finger and I stared at it. It shone in the light. Pulling on some of my magic, I turned the tear golden and lifted it up into the air. I watched as I exploded it. A small smile appeared on my face but of course, it didn't last for long. I walked back into my bedroom prepared to cry myself to sleep as I had been doing for the past two nights. I sat on my bed and felt the tears come. I buried my face into my hands and cried silently. I heard my door open and light shone through my gloomy room. I looked up quickly in hope.
"Zelda? Why are you crying sweetie?" My father asked as he sat down next to me. I looked up into his kind face. He wiped some tears off with his thumb. Once he was sure my face was tear- free, he pulled me into a hug.
"He has-hasn't co-come back y-yet! He said he'd b-be back in a day o-or two but he isn't back yet! Have you he-heard anything from him yet?" I asked while trying to catch my breath from my crying. My father acknowledged who I was talking about.
So he said, "Link is a hero and he is alive. I promise you that. Remember what he told you before he left?" I nodded. "Right, he never breaks his promises. You know that Zelda and I think you can be strong." I smiled into my father's chest. He left the room after kissing me goodnight. I walked back out onto my balcony and once again stared into the night sky. A shooting star went by and I made a silent wish. Hoping it would come true, I went to bed.
(Time lapse)
The next night, I found myself back on the balcony. After about an hour of staring, I heard a voice come from the courtyard. I looked down, but there was no light so I couldn't tell who it was. Moments later, my door flew open. A boy wearing a green tunic and hat, boots, sword and shield and had the most amazing blue eyes was standing in my doorway with a pained expression on his face. His dirty blond hair covered his bloody and sweaty face. Obviously, I began crying. Link walked up to me and held me tight. I cried into his tunic and he stroked my hair.
"Zelda, before I left, I promised you I would never ever leave you. Ever. I don't plan on breaking that promise anytime soon." He bent down and kissed me. It was just me and my hero clad in green. I was happy. While Link held me, I sent a silent prayer to the goddesses. My wish had come true.
