Preface

Things happen for a reason. At least, that's what Yangchen always told me. She said that life had its turns, but you always had to make the best out of them. I didn't know that applied to me when I turned fourteen. I had been blind for many years now, and I had made the best out of what life had given me. I learned how to stop and listen to the things around me. Air has become my guide, as well as my greatest weapon.

My name is Hana. I am a blind Airbender from the Western Air Temple. I became blind when I was five for reasons unknown to me. It may seem unreal to you, thinking that the Avatar is Aang. Well, it is, but Yangchen said that she had a vision of Avatar Roku. The reincarnation of the Avatar had been split in two.

When the Fire Nation launched their attack on the Air Nomads, Yangchen hid me in a room that only the Airbenders could open. I remained in the Avatar State for a little over a hundred years, and when I returned to my normal state, everyone was gone and I was all alone.
