Ghost reached out to Eagle as she slept. He stroked her smooth face. It's been too long since he saw her last. Even though he'd seen her work and out and about he wasn't able to communicate with her. Deep down, he hated being away from her. It tore him apart. He constantly worried about her. He knew she was perfectly capable of protecting herself. But since they 'officially' became a couple he felt the desire to protect her stronger than ever and to keep her alive in this time of hardship.
But now that she was back he felt whole again.
It was like she was the piece of the puzzle that connected the image. Or that word in a sentence that joined it to another. How he functioned whilst she was away he doesn't know. But all that mattered was that she was back. Safe and sound.
Eagle made a slight sound of content when Ghost's hand made contact with her skin. A weak smile broke across her face. She made muffled sounds as she adjusted herself against Ghosts warm body. He cradled her head against his chest and brought her closer to him with his other arm. They laid embraced for hours as the night ticked by. Ghost tore between looking out the window or at the beautiful young woman in his lap.
Some point after midnight Eagle awoke to find Ghost fast asleep still cradling her. She giggled and snuggled up tighter against him before kissing him softly on the neck and closing her eyes again.

Anyway. This is a cute little fluff of Ghost and Kayla (Eagle) where I tried to incorporate themes of my absence before my return. Did you pick them up?
