A Friend's Request
Link stood and sheathed his sword. The heat was unbearable even in the goron tunic. Link watched as the tear rolled down the defeated dragon's face. The dragon whispered out sadness ringing in his voice "L-link…" The dragon perished with that final word.
Link put his hand on the head of the dragon, his enemy, and his long lost friend.
-Flashback
Link looked at the baby dragon inside the cage. He looked sad in there. The dragon was red with only front legs and serpentine; it had curved horns, like a goat's. As he looked at it in the eye the dragon gave him a pleading look as if pleading to be freed.
The sign on the cage said 70 rupees. He dug inside of his wallet and scrounged out just enough to buy the dragon. He payed the shopkeeper the rupees and walked out the dragon's cage in hand.
As he exited castle town he opened the cage of the dragon.
He said to it "Now I spent all my money for you, you better behave!"
As soon as he said that the dragon bit his hand, hard.
"Arg!!!! Let go!" Link desperately shook his hand until the dragon fell to the ground with a thump. Link rubbed his throbbing hand while looking at the dragon venomously. He walked toward it intending to put it back in its cage when it blew a stream of fire at his face.
The dragon made its escape while Link ran around, screaming.
After Link had gotten control of himself he muttered "Good riddance…" and walked toward Lake Hylia. Navi said to him "I think the dragon is following you." Link looked behind him and saw a dragon's head quickly retreating behind a rock.
As he had his back turned he did not notice the wolfo sneaking up behind him. However the dragon did notice. The dragon leaped out launched a stream of fire at the wolfos. Link thinking the fire was meant for him dived. Link could feel the heat of the fire as it rushed overhead and hit the wolfo. The wolfos howled in agony.
Link now realizing the danger he is in got out his sword and stabbed the wolfo dispatching it quickly. He looked at the baby dragon, appreciation showing in his eyes. "You saved my life."
The dragon replied "L-link!"
Link smiled wide and said in a jubilant voice "I can tell, we are going to be best friends!"
-End Flashback
The memories were too much for Link. He had won but he had lost, for his friend was dead. He buried his face in his arms and sobbed. Crying for what he had done, and what he had lost.
Link watched the sky with a profound saddness. He had done what he had to, but it did not mean he enjoyed doing so. He wished it could be differant. He wished that Volvagia was still alive and free. But wishing did not change anything. He got on Epona and started off for Lake Hylia.
He remembered this path. This was the path where Volvagia had saved his life. He felt the tears coming again. Epona snorted and sped up. He spotting a rock that he stoped Epona. He got out of the saddle and crouched near the rock.
This rock was the very one that Volvagia had hid behind when he was following Link. Link could not hold the tears back any longer. Tears fell on that rock Link wondering why he had to do such a horrible thing. He knew the answer but did not think it was good enough to kill a friend for.
He shook, his hands curled into fists. He did not make a sound as his tears dappled the rock.
So should I continue? Tell me or I won't finish.
