Perfection. That is the only way to describe her. Max flew above me, her hair glowing from the background sun. Her wings seemingly alive, in perfect rhythm. Her eyes, pure, deep green. Oh, I could go on and on because she looks like an angel. No, she IS an angel. We should change her name to Angel. But then what about me? Angel's voice floated into my head. Angel! I thought, get out of my head and don't you dare say a word to Max about this. Besides, we would change your name to what you wanted. Angel laughed out loud and everyone in the flock looked at her. She flew next to Max and whispered something. I glared at her as Max looked at me with a confused expression on her face. I streaked ahead, feeling my cheeks heat up.
An hour later we landed in a parking lot of a hotel. She got two rooms. Max, Iggy and I got the first room.
"Behave yourselves!" Max told the younger kids in the room next to ours. When Max came back she sat next to me on the couch.
"So, what did you want to change my name to?" Max asked, trying to act casually, but failing because I could read her all to well.
"You mean Angel didn't tell you?"
"No."
"Oh, thank God…" oops I should not have just said that out loud!! Crap, I am in big trouble, either I will have to tell Max, or have her pestering me for the REST OF MY LIFE. Although that may not be much longer…
"what? Come just tell me please" She began pestering, just as I knew she would. If she kept this up, I would get a total of 17 minutes of sleep. She had done it before on other topics. She could act so childish sometimes, but I thought it was cute and funny. Max the Invicible, a mighty leader, acting three years old!
"I wanted to change your name to Angel" I whispered.
"Why?"
"Because, well, you look like, well you are, er, I mean. You look like one." I finally managed to get out a sentence after stuttering, and trust me, I NEVER stutter. Heck I don't even talk enough to stutter. I watched Max as her expression changed from confused to realization to shock and back to confused.
"You think that I, a diry, smelly, always on the run, mutant hyrbrid freak, look beautiful?" Max asked, completely bewildered. I nodded and she smiled. She leaned on my shoulder and fell asleep. Eventually I did too, happier than I had been in a long time.
