Summary: A letter from Hermione and Ron
Completed: July 31, 2007
Dear Harry,
How are you? I hope things are well back home.
I still feel guilty for leaving so soon after the funerals. I think you did a lovely job with Remus' – he would have been touched. And I'm also glad you put up a stone for Sirius. It might take a while for the rest of the world to know, but we know he was innocent. And not the monument will certainly attest to that.
How are the Weasleys? I told Ron he could have stayed home with his family – after all the time apart, and since Fred… - be he insisted on accompanying me to find my parents. He almost won't let me out of his sight.
Surprisingly, the search for my parents is taking longer that I thought. I hide them very well it seems. I just hope they aren't cross with me after I tell them about the obliviation and everything. Ron is – uncharacteristically – optimistic. He says we're bound to find them soon, and besides Australia is beautiful.
Not at all like we're on a vacation though. We're not.
I've taken it upon myself to write Headmistress McGonagall about the three of us graduation, because even after everything it's important that we graduate from Hogwarts, and she said something will be worked out. No need for us to finish our last year of classes since we already have practical experience. I just don't want any special treatment. But since we did finish out OWLs and all, I suppose we have earned our diplomas rightfully. Could you imagine doing all this and not receiving our diplomas? Poposterous! And then again, our whole grade will need to go back in September for graduation anyway. So it might all work out. I think I'll owl McGonagall again just to be sure.
Oh, and you'll be relieved to know Ron did exceptionally well on the aeroplane. I figured since he can't quite apparate without splicing himself, it'd be safer to fly the Muggle way. Other than some apprehension, he was fine. He's actually doing surprisingly well with some Muggle living. There's even been talk about him learning to drive a car. I'm almost impressed.
I thought I'd just update you on us, and check in on everyone back home.
Everything is fine, isn't it Harry?
Hope to be back soon,
Love Hermione
One moment, Ron wants to add something to this letter.
Hey Mate!
So, do you think I need to wait and meet Hermione's parents before I ask her to…well, to marry me? Twelve Fail-Safe Ways to Charm Witches says I should. It shows respect and all that. But…what do you think? Other than we're too young, it's too soon and everything else you said before we left. I know you think I'm rushing things – but if the war's taught me anything it's that life is short. And I'm never doing to fear or doubt now I feel about Hermione again. Look what that fear almost did before? And it's not like I expect a wedding next week or anything. Mum would kill me. I'm just done sitting on my hands is all. I want her to know I'm serious.
Later,
Ron
P.S, You'd better be taking care of Ginny.
