Of Hearts and Faith
In the darkness lies a single truth. The art of sacrifice isn't as noble as it would seem. Who is the true sacrificial lamb? It is as it always was. The truest questions are the hardest to think of. However, once thought, answers lie beyond mortal reach. As Aqua knows, they have spared her life, but at what cost?
Where Ventus and Terra reside is there truly the will to fight on? The strength for friends and the strength for oneself are two different matters. Each of those strengths possesses a different source. Each of those strengths possesses a different limitation. When one source has been emptied where can they turn?
When was the sacrifice first thought of? Was fate decided with the chance encounter between Aqua and next Keyblade Masters? What fate binds them to one other? Is it that same fate which has condemned Ventus and Terra? Is it the same fate which has abandoned Aqua to an inescapable darkness?
Freedom and reunion exist only in Aqua's most distant dreams. The darkness lies not only in the world she roams but in even the shallowest thoughts she possesses. What hope exists when the darkness envelopes all in crushing embrace?
Where can one turn when the most trivial of thoughts are tainted? Trivial thoughts that one thinks and discards without even realising that they've thought of something. How deeply darkened are the most consequential of thoughts? When thoughts are deep and concentrated upon how can darkness not corrupt the mind?
The possibility that Terra and Ventus sacrificed a part of themselves to protect her becomes meaningless if she is corrupted. What is left of them? Terra and Ventus have the strength to survive but what of that strength was lent to Aqua? Does their demise depend on that act of heroism where Aqua had readied herself for death?
Faith, they claim, is the only hope they possess.
Love, they claim, is what will re-unite them once more.
Of hearts and faith, which is enough, if either?
Author's Note: No, sadly, I haven't completed the game. My information has come from Wikipedia and Wikia. I know how unreliable they are so if this is wrong then I blame that! No, I'm only joking. If this story is incorrect then I am to blame for my lack of research and I wholeheartedly take the blame. However, these specific stories of mine will not be updated / revised / edited. I found myself wondering one day what were their fates. Also, one of my love's, Qín's Moon, has a lovely quote: 'everyone is in the light, except for me who is in the dark'. That refers to the evil deeds of the emperor, whom everyone in the land knows, and they, who are a small band of 'rebels that aren't known and are therefore 'in the dark'. That makes me wonder about the Western concept of light and dark and whether the darkness is something to fear or whether the light is meant to be feared. This is the product of that thought. I know better than to think that I've created a philosophical masterpiece though. I'm not that smart. I thank you for reading and putting up with my, likely incomprehensible, piece. I apologise if you did not find this satisfactory and I hope that you did find enjoyment with this.
