Chapter one
Finn Hudson
I heard about this thing where you stand in front of a mirror each and every day and you just tell yourself about all the things you want to accomplish today. Nothing major or huge which usually takes more than one day to fulfill, say something that could be simple and ordinary for others but for you it could mean the world.
So I heard about it a month ago and I decided that I will dedicate five minutes each morning for that exact purpose. On the first day I tried something rather easy, I told myself to wear the shirt I bought on a whim. Something I never do. After that I tried to challenge myself and decided I would actually sit on the subway for once, buy a cup of coffee from Starbucks and go for a run. All in all, it was working nicely.
I guess I should introduce myself before I start telling my story. So for starters, my name is Finn Hudson. I was born on 1990, that makes me 24. I was born in a small town in California. Growing up was rough on me, I was the youngest of 4, I wasn't athletic or strong which made me useless in the ranch and I wasn't really social. My parents were great though, they knew I was different from my two brothers and one sister and so they encouraged me to study harder and to apply to the best colleges there was. I was accepted to Yale, and so I packed my bugs and left. College was an interesting time in my life; I finally met intelligent people, who were interested in math, science and politics like me and who shortly became my friends. After college I decided I want to be a lawyer and so I set my bells to Columbia law school. I found peace in the law; it made a lot of sense. I passed the bars and shortly afterwards I found a job in a big law firm. I and a friend from Columbia rented an apartment in the Village. Now it is three years later, I enjoy working as a lawyer and I am a great success in work. Actually, I don't have much more going on for me in life and so I decided to try and do new things every day, hence the mirror thing.
Currently I am pilling a banana and walking towards the office. I slept passed the alarm this morning and so I skipped breakfast. Tonight I am going to a party a law school friend of mine is having. Usually I hate parties, always have, but tonight I decided to step out of my comfort zone and see some old friends I haven't seen in a while.

New York is different than what I've expected. It's still great though, don't get me wrong, but it's different. I visited New York once when I was 17 and it felt different than the way I feel today. Maybe there is a difference between being a resident and being a tourist. After knowing the basis subway lines and the streets name you feel like a part of the city, it's like 'I can't believe I ever lived anywhere else' kind of feeling. And so after living here for three months I feel at home, it is a weird feeling, a good weird.
Plus, NYU is the best. The school spreads across the Village, which I believe is the best part of Manhattan. Being eighteen and a New Yorker is great, I have a pretty nice apartment and I have my best friends as roommates, a privilege for itself, I have a kickass job as a bartender and I earn nice money and the best part is that I left my hometown, the city from hell- Lima, Ohio.
I did work really hard to get here, I got a dance scholarship, which is basically a full 4 years ride and I get to do the thing I like most, dancing.
I probably make zero sense to you know, I am just all over the place. The thing you need to know for this story is that my name is Quinn, I'm eighteen and a half and I work as a bartender in an Irish bar.

"Hey man, are you ready? Everyone is already there." Puck called out from the living room. I looked at the mirror one last time, making sure my hair looks good and then I joined him in the living room.
He was sitting on the gray couch we found in the street when we just moved in. I love that couch, even though we both make good money and we can afford a big leathery expensive couch we still keep it. I can say the same thing about us living together; we could have part ways long time ago, but we didn't. There is a simple explanation for this particular syndrome- small town people who made it in the big city usually tend (Even if they aren't aware of such habit) to hold on to things that keeps them grounded.
Puck wasn't my best friend in college, we could have been but we always found ourselves head to head in certain situations. After law school we bumped into each other on the street, and the rest is history.
"You are wearing a t-shirt and jeans, how the hell did it take you longer then me to get ready?" He said irritated. Puck was wearing a light blue button down shirt and dark jeans, his black hair was pulled backwards with a good amount of hair gel and an angry smile grazed his lips.
"Sorry." I said, I didn't have the power to fight with him, I was already dreading this party.
He rose from the couch and smiled, like nothing has happened and he walked to the door. "Let's walk, it's not too hot and I am in a walking mood."
"Sure."

"Q, could you grab some more beers while you are back there? I swear to god, this is the only thing they drink." Mid-sentence I turned around and grabbed another case.
"Here"
"I thought lawyers would drink the good stuff." Kurt said.
"More for us Kurt, would you stop whining?"
He gave me a fake hurt look and nudged me with his shoulder. "Bitch please, I don't complain. And besides, when someone closes the bar for a private event we don't get a lot of tips, something that effects you a lot more than it does to me, isn't it right guys?" Kurt directed the last question to my breasts.
Kurt is a really good friend of mine. I met him on the first day of school, he is a junior and I am a freshman. Later on, he found me a job here and introduced me to his boyfriend Blaine who was a kick ass dancer.
"Shut up." I said just as someone approached the bar. I walked towards the customer, not missing Kurt whispering 'good respond'.
"Hey, what can I get you?" I asked the guy leaning on the deck.
"What do you recommend?" He asked in a flirty voice.
"I like cosmopolitan, but somehow I don't think it's your cup of tea." He laughed and it reminded me of my father for a second, he throw his head back and patted his chest lightly.
"I don't know, I think I'll give it a try."
I gave him a questioning look, but he didn't look like he was kidding so I started making the drink. "It's Puck." He said after a few seconds.
"I'm pretty sure it's cosmopolitan, but I am just a bartender, so what do I know?" I said with a smirk. I wasn't flirting trust me, it was just an innocent way to get extra tips. He didn't laugh or corrected me; instead he just continued looking at me with a half smile.
I handed him his drink and for the life of me I don't know why I said it, but I added. "Quinn."
"It's nice to meet you."
"Same."
He turned around and went to his table without a word, or a tip.
"Don't be offended, he is gay." Kurt said behind me.
"He's not and I am not."
"In that case, it's all good."
We looked at each other with knowing smiles on our faces, waiting to see who will crack first and say something stupid when our boss showed up.
"Listen closely Hansel and Gretel, you will stop whatever nonsense it is you are doing now and you will continue to make drinks and being polite to costumers or I swear to god I will make sure you both will stay to scrub cups until morning." He yelled.
"Yes chief." Kurt and I said in unison. It was our nickname to him because he reminded us a lot of the chief in Grey's Anatomy, the famous television show. He sighed, signaling to us he was done handling us for tonight and left.
We looked at each other and started laughing.

"Tell me he isn't holding a cosmo in his hand." Tina suddenly said. I followed her line of sight only to be brought with the ridiculous sight of my roommate holding a pink drink.
Everyone around the table started laughing and when Puck was in an earshot a lot of gay jokes, I should not repeat, was sounded.
"Care to explain Captain?" Tina teased.
"It's in fact very simple, I to believe it taste good and so I bought it." Puck said calmly as he sat down next to me and whispered in my ear 'unbelievably hot bartender.' I nodded in understanding, dreading tomorrow morning when I will probably run into a naked version of her leaving his bedroom, he has this effect on girls. He wasn't the most handsome guy, or the funniest but regardless, he hooked up with girls who were outside of his league.
A few hours later I decided that I had enough and that I am ready to go home, I said goodbye to my friends and then I looked for Puck but he wasn't anywhere near and so I left, feeling really happy I went to the party and didn't stay home on a Friday night.

It was three am and the bar was almost empty, Kurt left and I was in charge of locking. I was tidying the workspace when the Puck guy sat on the chair in front of me, rested his elbows on the bar and placed his chin on them.
"Can I help you?" I asked after a few moments of silence.
"Can I have your number?"
"What?" I asked in disbelief, a little bit amused.
"Come on, I spend an evening when everyone thought I was gay." He straightened and smiled. "What's the worst that could happen? And don't say that crap about me being a serial killer that will rape you and then bury you in a shallow grave."
"First of all, thank you for taking that fear of the table with helpful details. Did you come up with it now or is it the usual strategy?" He laughed and shook his head in amusement. "And second, the worst think that I thought could happen, you know, before you triggered my psycho alert, was that I'll waste my time on someone who applies way more gel then necessary."
"So the worst thing that can happen is some time wasted?" He asked in a careful tone.
"And you possibly being gay, I forgot about that."
"Well, that is not a problem. We can go to the bathroom for a second and I will show you." He said. I laughed because, well, he was shameless funny and charming and he was an older guy, which is very cool. "Come on, take a chance on me." I saw some evil glimpse in his eye and then he jumped up on the bar and started belting out Abba's 'Take a chance on me'. "Honey I'm still free take a chance on me." He sand loudly, causing the few people that were still there to look at his direction.
"Okay, okay I'll give you my number. Just get down from there." I said smiling.
