He had just gotten back to the hotel after a hard day and was looking forward to taking a nice shower and spending the evening with his boyfriend. Sliding his card through, he opened the door, dropped his bag, and headed for the bathroom. He screamed at the sight before him. His lover was bleeding to death before his eyes. He ran to him and held the smaller man to his chest.
"How could you do this? I love you! Stay with me."
He pulled out his cell and dialed 911.
"Hello. 911. What's your emergency?"
"I need an ambulance right away. Room 212 at the Quality Inn."
He looked down into the face of the man he loved. He was barely breathing and the towel he was holding onto his bleeding wrist was soaked. His eyes were rolled back into his head.
"Please wake up, baby. I need you. Please" he sobbed.
"Sorry." the other man said, his voice barely a whisper. "I'm really….."
And with that he went limp. "NO!" the larger man screamed. "No! Baby, wake up!"
The paramedics arrived then and they checked for a pulse. Not finding one the EMT called for the defribulator. "Clear!" Still nothing. "Turn it up." he instructed. "Clear!" Again, nothing. They put him on the stretcher and carried him to the ambulance. Staying right with them, the man's lover jumped in the back and they sped off toward the hospital. When they arrived, they rushed the legally dead man to the ER. After what seemed like an eternity a doctor finally came to the waiting room.
"Is he okay? Were you able to save him?"
"I'm sorry, sir, but he didn't make it."
He fell to his knees and cried into his hands. With that one sentence, his world was shattered.
