Link stared blankly at the oak door leading to Zelda's room. He slowly raised his fist to the door, letting it rest on the wood, before dropping it back to his side.

Finally he let out a frustrated growl.

"I have the Tri-force of courage for the Goddesses sake!" he grumbled, starting a steady pace in front of the princess's door. "And I can't even knock on her door?!"

He ran a hand through his blond hair, cracking a smile as a maid walked by. She gave him a strange look, and then hurried away.

Link sighed, and then looked at the flowers he was holding in his hand.

It was late evening when he had found a patch of wildflowers while riding Epona through Faron woods. On impulse, he picked a few to make a decent sized bouquet, then road off to castle town early next morning to give them to Zelda for her birthday.

Now he was having second thoughts.

"You. Are. Such. An. Idiot." He mumbled, softly banging his head against the wall. The door slowly opened, and never in all his life had Link jumped as bad as he did when Zelda called his name.

"What are you doing?" She asked. Link went a light shade of red as Zelda walked out, her expression just as un-readable as ever.

"P-princess!" well, Link thought as Zelda stood in the doorframe. This is certainly awkward. "I was just…um…"

Zelda couldn't help but smile as Link shuffled around. She had learned that whenever the Hero was nerves, he would always call her 'Princess' or 'Your Majesty'. He also always found a way to avoid the question, and it was no surprise to her as he did.

"I just wanted to come and visit you." He replied, never looking her directly in the eyes.

"All the way from Ordon?" Zelda asked. "That's a long journey, even by horse." After the Twilight invasion, Link had gone back to Ordon, wanting to try and establish his life again before everything happened. He never accepted any positions that Zelda had offered him, but he still made periodic visits and sent letters, as he never could go back to normal, and the two had established a friendship.

However, Link had slowly fallen in love with Zelda, and as he realized his feelings (he's slow when it comes to these things), he felt this overwhelming need to prove himself. So, he decided to just do little things for her, like visiting more often, letting her tell him all her troubles, and giving her a shoulder to cry on.

"Well, it's your birthday, so, I just thought…" Link trailed off, and then held out the flowers. "Here."

Zelda looked mildly surprised at the gift. She took it gingerly from his hand, and just started at it.

Oh why did I do this? Link thought. She defiantly hates them. Gah! I'm so stupid!

"T-there beautiful." Zelda mumbled, running a finger along one of the petals. She then looked up, and Link felt his heat do a pitter patter as she smiled. "No one had ever done anything this thoughtful for me before."

She then quickly ran back into her room, and Link felt a sense of satisfaction, and a small ego boost, as she threw a bouquet of roses out the window, placing his flowers in the now empty vase. She then came back out, and Link couldn't help but smile at her.

"Thank you Link. Thank you so much." She too smiled at him, and then returned to her brisk manner. "And now that you're here, we have some catching up to do."

"Eh? But I just sent you a letter 2 weeks ago."

"Yes, but a lot happens in 2 weeks." Zelda replied. Link sighed, and then smiled as he let Zelda drag him off to the library.

If he could have it his way, every day would be exactly like this.

A/N:

I realize that I probably spelled Ordon and Faron wrong, but I'm too lazy to actually check.

Anyway, random idea that I got. Sorry if it's kinda sucky. It's late...

I don't own LoZ
