Hey! I'm not counting posts anymore… it takes too long. Ayway, today happens to be my birthday so I've posted a lot of stories! In return I hope for reviews! Please?
Cliff trudged down the dirt road unhappily his feet kicking up dust with every step.
It was possibly the worst day for moving to another town but Cliff had ignored everyone telling him to wait till tomorrow and had started out for Mineral Town that morning. It was afternoon now, the hottest part of the day. Mineral town was proving to be a long walk.
"Cliff, Elizabeth," Cliff's father said with his dying breath as he took hold of Cliff's and Elizabeth hands. "You have to keep strong. You have to help mother, she'd be lost without you two." Cliff could tell that the smile his father had just given them was fake and what his father really wanted to do was cry.
"Father…" Cliff's sister said through tears. "D-don't leave us!"
"Elizabeth…" Cliff trailed off. Wwhat could he say to her? That their father wasn't going to die? That everything was going to be okay? That this was all just a bad dream?
No. He couldn't say any of those things. Because they were all lies. Cliff's father noticed that his son was trying to say something but couldn't figure out what would make Elizabeth happy and broke the silence for Cliff.
"Lizzi, it's okay. Even if I'm not here you'll have Cliff to watch over you." The dying man turned to look at Cliff and gave him another weak smile then turned his attention back to Elizabeth "and I'm never really gone. I'll always be here in my own way, even when you can't see me. I'll be there for you." They were the mans last words.
Cliff wiped away tears that were burning down his cheeks. Why were the memories bothering him now? They hadn't for five years. He picked up his pace trying to somehow walk away from his past. It didn't work.
Everything came flooding back to him in one jumbled mess. Before he knew it an image of him running away after his father died only to come home one month later to find that his mother had died and his sister had been dragged off to some orphanage that he couldn't find flashed before his eyes.
This was accompanied by him joining running away yet again and after he ran out of money joining the circus as a hawk trainer. He walked even faster. His leaving after he heard about a small town and decided to try his luck out there.
This was the result of all that. This is what happened because of that. He saw a beaten down sign with the words "welcome to mineral town!" in big lettering.
He shrugged off the memories. There was no point in coming to a new town looking depressed. If he looked too depressed he'd probably resemble a dead fish. No one wanted to be friends with a dead fish. After he had walked around town a little he found an inn. And opened the door for himself. This was the beginning of his new life.
There it is. Remember, today is my birthday so I wish for reviews! Lots and lots!
