I close my eyes. I hope I'll remember this. The light shower of rain trickling onto my face and my body. It feels perfect, here in a forest, surrounded by many trees, sitting on a rock, next to Jacob. We're only friends, but I wish we were something...more.
I sit up and open my eyes, to see Jake laying down, staring at me. I feel my face turn bright red. I blink a couple times and turn back to my daydreaming.
"Nessie," he says, his voice low and heavy.
"Yes?" I ask, shutting my eyes. I can feel the rain fall on my lips.
"Let's get out of here. It's sort of...well I don't know. Depressing maybe?" He says seriously. I can feel his eyes glued on me, and it burns. It burns when I think that those eyes are looking smack at me and I'm sitting here like a freaking rock, looking like I could care less. I'm a jerk. A monster.
"Sure," I chirped.
He grabs the radio and my water bottle and I re-tie my Converses. We tiptoe through the rest of the woods.
When we get back to his car, I take my place in the middle seat in front. It's the seat I've always taken since I was three. That was when I called him 'My Jake.'
We sit there in silence for five minutes, but then his mouth starts up again, like it did in the woods.
"Nessie," he says, very seriously. "I need to tell you something."
"Yeah?"
"I want you to know that as soon as your were born, you've been the one for me."
"Huh? Wait what?" I ask strangley.
"I imprinted on you, Renesmee. I can't change that."
I did not say a word the rest of the trip.
