During his adventure, he really missed her;
When he was fighting heartless, looking for Kairi and Riku, he would think of what to say to her, how to tell her about his adventures.
Her, that is, his mother.
He regretted not telling her where he went when the storm hit Destiny Islands.
But he was so worried about the raft...and he thought it was only a normal storm, not a storm that would change his life.
But now he was home, he could finally see her again.
He really truly missed her.
----
A grave stone.
A grave stone near the paupu tree where he would usually find Riku.
The grave stone had a name on it.
His mother's name.
For a moment, he lost his voice; the euphoria of finally getting home was forgotten.
"Kairi...what happened to my mom?" his voice sounded rasped.
The girl beside shook her head slowly, her eyes tinged with sadness.
"When I got back..." She said slowly. "Your mom, she asked me what happened to you, so I told her." She paused, finding the words to tell him. "She believed me and she waited for you to come home."
"Where's Sora?"
"But then, everyone was forgetting about you, no one remembered you. Your mom and I were the only one who remembered."
"When will he come home?"
"And one day, she went missing...nobody knew where she went. She left a letter, saying that she went to look for you."
"I believe you, Kairi...I know he'll come back soon."
"One night, there was a storm...and someone thought they saw a boat at sea. Later, after that, they found the boat, but it was broken into so many pieces of wood."
"He'll come back."
"Sora, it was your mother's boat."
She went looking for him.
His mother went looking for him.
"After the raft is finished, we're going to find lotsa other worlds!" he finished off enthusiastically, receiving a small nod from the older women.
"Oh really?" The women countered back, an eyebrow arched. "What if you can't reach other worlds with that raft of yours?"
The boy shrugged. "We'll think of something."
"What if your raft was sinking and there was nothing but sea in sight?"
"Mom..." he pouted.
The women laughed, watching her son sulk.
"Mom?"
"Yes?"
"Will you miss me if I go?"
"You could always write a letter. Make a phone call...send an email..."
"Mom!"
The women shrugged; "Sure I'll miss you."
"Really...?"
"Yes. Who'd do the dishes?"
The boy pouted again, making the women laugh a second time. They stood there for a minute.
"You know what mom?"
"What?"
"I could always write a letter."
--------
You couldn't write letters to the dead.

Notes:
I was wondering what the heck happened to Sora's mom...don't you wonder?
