He stared at her cold, dead body. The young woman who had once been so lively and full of life, ready for any adventure, was lying, dead on the floor. He stared, and slowly felt the pain sink in. Rose had died, and nothing in the universe could ever bring her back to him. The Doctor collapsed next to her, onto his knees. Pain stung through his legs, but nothing seemed to matter to him anymore, as he had no one left.
Memories of good times flashed through the Doctor's brain, walking through busy London streets eating chips, being knighted by Queen Victoria, meeting Cleopatra. He remembered the time he had taken her to the end of the world, and how much she had changed since then. He remembered the jealousy in her eyes as he introduced her to Sarah- Jane. Pain pulsed though his body, numbing him. He stood up slowly, and walked uncertainly towards the TARDIS, a lump in his throat, and a lone tear rolling down his scratched cheek.
When he reached the vast control room, Rose's death hit him like a bus. The Doctor leant on the wall and slid down the wall, tears filling his empty brown eyes. The woman he loved had dyed, and he could have stopped it. She had been shot, Rose had been just across the room from him, and he had watched the bullet, as if in slow motion, hit her in the stomach and slowly kill her.
Last week he had been eating chips with Rose Tyler, time travelling human, Bad Wolf, saver of countless planets. Now the Doctor was a crumpled mess on the TARDIS floor, crying over the one human he had ever truly loved.
He had once told her that he was always alright, but tonight he wasn't. The Doctor wished for just one more time. One more adventure, one more hug, one more look into her lively eyes. But never again would the Doctor Rose Tyler, for after the events of tonight, she was gone forever.
