T.K stood up at the podium. He glanced behind him to see his brother and friends smiling at him. He took a deep breath. "Hello everyone. As you might remember, a couple years ago 7 children went against Dioboromon here, in this town at 6 minutes past 6 on the 6th of June 2006. What most people don't know is that those children faced major problems. One of them thought they might loose their sister there."
Tai wrapped an arm around Kari's shoulder.
"But a few had their own problems. One of the boys, let's call him Rory, got lost."
T.K glances back at Matt, who nodded, before continuing.
"He thought he was the cause of his parents' divorce. His brother, Dan, didn't really understand what was happening at the time and just thought it was normal. When they got separated, Rory started to think he wasn't a good brother to Dan. He got lost in his negativity quite literally. According to Rory, he thought Dan might be better without him. But Rory's digimon, Gabumon, talked him out of where he was. Gabumon told Rory how Dan looked up to him. It encouraged Rory and brought him out of the cave that the negativity had built around him."
T.K looked back at Matt who was trying not to wince at those memories.
"Not many people have someone to talk to about stuff like this, or if they do, the person on the other end either isn't listening to the cry for help or isn't a friend. Though it didn't happen in this case, many people in other parts of the world think the best way to relieve all the emotions their bottling up is by harming themselves. Not many people who harm themselves find a way out again. Without Gabumon, it's possible Dan may have lost his brother forever to the darkness. I know Dan and Rory personally and their closer than ever but only because someone listened."
T.K stood back from the podium as Kari stepped out of her brother's arm and walked up to his place and to a stunned silent auditorium.
"Hi. T.K and I were researching for this essay for class on butterflies and we came across "The Butterfly Project". It's where if you harm yourself or know someone who does, you draw a butterfly on yourself. The reasoning behind this is that it's the first step to recovery. Where the ink from the pen you used to draw the butterfly can rub off, the reason for harming yourself can fade from your memory. Many people have followed this project and stopped harming themselves."
Kari pauses for a second.
"Some of those people got a butterfly tattooed onto their arms to remind them of what they've been through and how much stronger they are because of it. Today, please draw a butterfly on your sisters, brothers, friends and yourself to show your support for those people."
She finished, pulled off her glove and showed the butterflies that she had drawn. T.K walked up to beside her, rolled up his sleeve and showed the one on his forearm. Tai and Matt loosened their ties and unbuttoned their shirts to show the butterflies over their hearts. (A/N: Guess why their butterflies are there.) Soon the teens present on stage and Mimi, via Skype on Izzy's laptop, were displaying the butterflies that were drawn on their arms.
Please listen whenever someone talks about their personal lives it may be the difference between life and death for someone you may know
