DISCLAIMER: MWHAHAHA finally I own Drakengard! *is burnt into a crisp*.... okay nevermind. Cavia and Square Enix owns it, not I

AN: Hey boys and girls, it's been a while since I last wrote something. This isn't very good but I wasn't in a good mood when I wrote it. It was just something written to pass the time, so apologies if its crappy. Just kinda wanted to write some Legna/Nowe. The poor things are so overlooked

He was given a duty: raise the boy. As a member of the proudest race of creatures, how could he not pass up the task? It was simple: raise the boy and use him in the end. Sounded simple enough so he thought. How could he love a human? He never loved his rider so how could he love a boy, a mere child? He took the boy and flew off to the valley where the boy could grow up without harm.

He watched the boy grow in mere amusement. Humans were such a spontaneous race and this boy was no different than the rest of them. When the boy was able to walk, he would often run around flapping his wings, intimating a dragon. He didn't know whether to be insulted or amused by this. Maybe both. But it was laughable and it got a chuckle out of both of them. The boy also took to collecting scales that fell off of him, which also confused him. Often he saw the boy trying to place it upon his soft skin and there were times when the boy came up to him and asked why he wasn't born with scales or wings. He had no response to this.

One day men entered the territory and he defended the boy from harm. But a man stepped forward and begged him to hand the boy over to insure that the boy grew up living like a normal human being. He reluctantly handed the boy over, of course with the invitation that he could visit the boy whenever he pleased. And so he observed the boy grow up and learn to handle a sword and talk normally and behave like a human. The boy regarded both him and the man as his 'fathers' and then only 'father' when the man went off and got killed in battle.

He and the boy fled sometime after they were betrayed. And then they met the woman and all had been nothing but trouble since. Yet he felt something grow towards the boy. He felt protective of him and obedient. It is only my job, he would often think to himself. But he knew he was only bluffing to himself. Then the Seal broke and the poison was released upon the world and he and the boy had slain it and watched the world fall apart. Then came the nostalgic feeling of returning home and teaching the boy that he was created to be a weapon to be used by the Holy Dragons against the Gods who had swiped the throne from them.

Then came the truth: join him or fight. The boy resisted and he had no other choice. He tried to persuade the boy that joining him and the Holy Dragons was the right path but still the boy did not understand. The boy would fight him, he would kill him. He knew that but he didn't want to believe it. And then he couldn't believe it when he had lost the fight. He could feel the life fade from him but could also see the pain and regret in the boy's eyes, a look he had seen many times during the years only this time it hurt him a lot.

Finally the light began to flicker and he felt his powerful being beginning to fall towards the earth. Ironic how such a strong creature could die in such a way... he now understood how the red dragon felt in a way.

"Goodbye Legna... goodbye... thank you for raising me..."

This surprised him. Was this an attempt on the boy's part to make them both feel less guilty? It was kind of funny from his perspective how close he had grown to the boy... to only realize it in his final moments. You... thank me still..? Y...You're a sentimental fool... just like... your father...

But aren't we all fools?
