Fallen Leaves

A
Vampire Knight Fanfiction

This is a fanfiction that I wrote just in the spirit of Fall, randomly, off the top of my head. This takes place around season one. Enjoy!

It was fall, and the leaves had once again reddened into their fabulous red color that Yuuki had loved. She stood under a tree just outside of Cross Academy that looked the most appealing to her, with a beautiful red-orange mix of leaves. Yuuki Cross was bored; there was simply nothing she could think of doing. Kaname had been busy keeping the Night Class students in line and Zero was dealing with a disciplinary issue in the Day Class. She flashed back.

"Yuuki, you wouldn't really help. You can't really be that threatening."

"But Zero, as a member of the disciplinary committee, it is my sworn duty to deal with -"

"Yuuki, you can take a break. This is just a common infraction. All it is is one of the Day Class trying to take pictures of the Night Class from the windows. It happens all the time," said Zero in his usual, monotone voice.

Yuuki still wanted to help out; it was something to do. And this was just a boring fall day in the beginning of November.

She walked along some of the paved paths at Cross Academy. She took a seat at the fountain, water spewing out of it. She lightly dipped her hand in out of curiosity of how chilled the water had become. It was frigid; she hastily jolted her fingertip out and waved all the water off.

She walked over to a tree and plucked a fuji apple. She bit her teeth into it and sunk them in. All the apple juice flooded into her mouth, crisp sweetness flowing in. I wonder if this is how vampires feel when they are drinking blood, she wondered. She clenched her teeth together, forming a nice crater in her was absolutely delectable. She took a few more bites; then, she heard a slight rustling in the fallen leaves nearby. "Zero?"

"That issue was dealt with. Like I said, these things happen all the time. We already know exactly how to deal with a case like this."

"Zero! Finally, someone is here. I was getting really bored. Come on, let's go do something."

"What about me?" questioned Kaname calmly, now walking into the fountain area.

"Oh, you can come too, Kaname, now that you're done dealing with the rest of the Night Class," shouted Yuuki excitedly.

"Let me show you something," beckoned Zero smoothly.

Yuuki and Kaname followed Zero to a soaring oak that reached higher than the top of the Academy roof. Zero picked up Yuuki and ran up the tree, Kaname behind him. Zero set Yuuki down at the top of the Cross Academy roof. The three sat in a row, Yuuki in between Zero and Kaname. Zero and Kaname held Yuuki in their arms, and Yuuki held them in her arms, all embraced in a line.

Yuuki looked out from the Academy roof, looking off towards the trees, now reddened to a color almost like blood. The trio looked on, in that day. "It looks wonderful, doesn't it?" questioned Zero, entranced by nature's beauty.

"Yes, yes it is," replied Yuuki. The towering oak that they had climbed had almost all its leaves on it, and was also one of the nicest trees there. They stared off into the distance, and the oak shedded some of its leaves onto the three, staring out into the forest, the trees, and their fallen leaves.
