Summary: Why did Shelley leave?
Why was he feeling what he was feeling? He loved his wife, his life, his family. But he hadn't been able to deny his attraction to Leda. She was like Shelley in so many ways, the way she acted, even the way she wore her hair.
Leda stood next to his desk. She'd been crying after an argument with her husband. He hadn't been completely satisfied with her response to his question. If she was in love with Daniel!
Daniel stood up, wrapping his arms around her.
'I'm sure it'll be okay, if you talk to him.'
'What if I don't want too.'
She looked up at him, smiling as he wiped away her tears with his thumb. He moved his hand, running the back of it against Leda's cheek. Daniel moved in closer. She closed her eyes, waiting for the inevitable. His lips brushed softly against Leda's. It was a long, slow kiss.
Daniel didn't even hear her until it was too late. A startled, shocked voice coming from the doorway.
'Daniel!'
He turned, parting for Leda as he saw Shelley. Leda moved away, surprised too.
'Shelley!' Daniel said.
Shelley turned quickly, running down the corridor, tears streaming down her face. Daniel ran after her, trying to catch her up.
'SHELLEY!'
She stopped half way down the corridor to look back.
'What. What can you say that can explain what I saw.'
'It was.. It was nothing. Just a kiss, she was upset.'
Shelley shook her head furiously.
'That wasn't a quick hug and a peck on the cheek to console her.'
She tried hard to fight back her tears, but let them fall down her face, showing him just how hurt, upset she was.
'I saw what was going on, but told myself that I was imagining it.'
Daniel reached out his hand, holding on to Shelley's arm.
'Don't touch me.'
'Shelley, please. It was..'
'What. That it didn't mean anything?'
'It didn't.'
Shelley shook her head. She didn't believe him.
'That kiss looked like it meant something, especially to me.'
The crying redhead looked away, running the rest of the way down the corridor towards the elevator. Shelley stood inside, her whole body aching. She couldn't stop crying.
Daniel watched her as she went all the way up to level 1. He didn't know what he was going to do? How could he have been so stupid. He wasn't in love with Leda, but there was an attraction there that he couldn't deny.
'You love your wife,' A voice said from behind him.
He turned his head, nodding. Leda stood behind him.
'I do. More than I thought I could ever love anyone.'
'Then you should go and tell her that.'
By the time he had driven home, Shelley had already packed hers and Mia's things. He'd tried to stop her, try and explain what had happened, but she didn't believe him and left.
