She didn't know him a lot.

They met when she brought them their new uniforms and, from then on, they had been working together as a normal team would do.

Nothing more than that, of course. He was on his own- or with Lavi, it depended- and she did the same. If they ever talked it was because of him.

She would have never made the first move, she was just too shy.

However, Miranda Lotto knew she was in love with Arystar Krory III.

But, of course, she was also aware of the most painful thing: he thought of his dead girlfriend like if she was still alive.

"He's like this, y'know" Lavi used to say with his arms crossed behind his neck. "Such a gentleman, but still such a dork... it's helpless, I think."

Well, even if the red haired boy was a dork himself, he was absolutely right.

And there she was, staring outside the window and waiting for him to come back from his mission. She was trying to look pretty, to wipe out that sad eyes on her face and, probably, hide the fact that her heart was bleeding.

How much she would have loved to wave and to start talking with him; to be brave enough to tell him something like "Why don't we spend some time together?"

Of course he was not that bad to refuse. The problem was with Miranda.

After some minutes Krory appeared in front of the gate, walking slowly as usual. His tall figure made the German woman gasp and strongly want to feel him close.

Their eyes met, just for a few seconds.

"Good evening, Lotto-san!".

"G-good evening, Krory-san... glad to see you're come back alive!"

He smiled gently and nodded, then disappeared in the darkness as the Gate Keeper recognized him.

Miranda Lotto sat on the bed, hugging her legs, and waited for a knock-knock that never came that night.

Eventually she wouldn't have given up, yet without doing anything to gain his love. It was just the way she was.
