I don't own Kingdom Hearts.
There was never a rainy day on the islands of Kairi's home. It was extremely rare for one to happen, but whenever it did, she felt like shooting herself. She couldn't go outside, mostly because she didn't WANT to. She never called her friends on rainy days, either; since the rainy days of Destiny Islands were very powerful, it was impossible to communicate with each other.
She hated the rain.
So why did she step outside her house that one rainy morning?
For one, it was drizzling. A little rain couldn't hurt her, right?
She grabbed her raincoat off of her closet hanger, rushing out the door as she stepped outside to the damp cold.
She had no idea why she was doing this. Usually on rainy days she would complain and whine about how she couldn't do ANYTHING, but today was different…
She walked along the beach, not really thinking about anything. After 10 minutes of loneliness, Kairi could see a figure in the foggy haze. Her first instinct was to run towards them, yelling for an answer, but decided against it. Instead, she continued walking until she could see who it was.
It was Riku. Her best friend since childhood. She gave him a smile, but could feel that the atmosphere was gloomy.
"Hello," she said, staring into his aquamarine eyes. They were usually filled with a calm collectiveness with a hint of sarcasm in them, but now they looked empty.
He simply continued to stare at her, and she shuffled her feet awkwardly. "What's--"
"What are you doing here?" he blurted out. He was completely turned to her now. She stared back at him, and for some reason she could tell there was something…dark about him.
"I-I was going to ask the same thing,"
He turned back to stare at the sea. The rain started to pour. "I didn't think you would be out here," he said quietly. "You always hated the rain." He turned to look at her, and she jumped. His eyes were a piercing yellow.
"R-Riku," she breathed. "Your eyes…"
He turned away, and closed his eyes. "I never wanted you to see this,"
She came closer to him, but he only backed away. He opened his eyes. "I've completely given in to the darkness,"
"No!" She cried. Sora had told her that Riku wasn't the same when they came back to the islands. He warned her that he would be acting differently…"You can't!"
He gave her a smile that made her heart shatter into a million pieces.
She started to run to him, but he dispersed into a portal of darkness.
She screamed for him to stay.
She screamed for him to come back.
She screamed for them.
She stayed there, kneeling in the sand, the rain pouring harder.
"Looks like it's going to rain."
Riku looked at the bandaged man beside him, who peered outside a window.
"What?"
"I said it's going to rain," DiZ glanced at Riku, giving him a look. "Is there something wrong…Ansem?"
Riku shook his head. He could hear DiZ say something, but he couldn't comprehend because he was picturing a girl who made his heart crumble faster.
"Someday…I'll make it stop raining for you," he whispered after DiZ left him alone. "Then we'll meet again." He smiled and could feel their hearts piece themselves back together.
Erm, I think I got side-tracked, because it doesn't even sound like the song. Except for the rain. It's not my BEST, but I hope you guys enjoyed it!
