Moving Day

"That's the last of them." Piotr sighed, cracking his back after he set the cardboard box on the linoleum kitchen floor. He flopped down on the couch, which was still covered in an old sheet. He had just gotten back from returning the U-haul truck and lugging up the last of their heavy belongings. Piotr Rasputin was tired.

"Oh no mister." Kitty warned from her perch on the step ladder, where she was busy unwrapping and putting away dishes. She jumped down and waded through a sea of old newspapers. "We still need to unpack this stuff."

"I think we can just live out of boxes for the rest of our lives. Like hobos." He moved his hands behind his head and shut his eyes. A few moments later, Piotr felt two hands bury themselves in his hair and her breath tickling his ear.

"You know, babe, the sooner we get done, the sooner we can break in our new bedroom."

Piotr's eyes snapped open. He sat up and looked deeply into Kitty's eyes. The corners of his mouth stretched into a smile. "Nice try." He kissed her hand before settling back down, snuggling into the cushions.

Kitty pursed her lips and looked around. Boxes were stacked all around their new apartment. Some had been ripped open, others were still in the clutches of pounds of wrapping tape. Their new dining set was still covered in bubble wrap and upside down. Piotr's easels and drop cloths were strewn in a corner of the living room, next to piles of Kitty's books and computer gadgets. It was a little daunting. The windows were open to let in a nice breeze, which made the apartment wonderfully comfortable. "Well... I guess we can spare a little break." She yawned. "Scoot over." Kitty slipped next to Piotr, half on the couch, half resting on his chest.

As they drifted off, Piotr kissed the top of her head. "Welcome home, Mrs. Rasputin."

(A/N: Well, just a silly little something. I'm surprised it's taken me so long to get it up, it's been on my harddrive for five months... yikes)
