-1A/N: This is an Aurikku fanfic set in the Thunder Plains during the game.

Auron: Fanfic? It's not even a page.

Fine, drabble, then. Anyway, Aurikku is my favorite FFX paring - Anyway, if you don't like the pairing, you don't have to read. No one's making you.

Auron: Except perhaps me. . .

Quiet Auron! The only thing you're here for is-

Auron: -to "pester" the flamers.

Very good.

"It's not stopping, is it?"

Auron cast a sidelong look at the young Al Bhed girl cowering next to him. She was shaking at the mere prospect of venturing back out into the storm. He huffed.

"Don't tell me you were hoping it would."

Rikku nodded sharply.

"Fine. Stay here."

Auron walked swiftly outside, mentally berating himself as he strode past her. She had told him the story about her brother and the unfortunate magical accident with lightning. Meanwhile, Rikku was fuming.

"All right, already. But! You didn't have to say it like that, you know!"

Auron kept walking as he heard her running to catch up with him.

"You could be more comforting or something! You know, try to cheer me up?"

He slowed his step slightly, but Rikku did not seem to notice. By now, they were a good distance away from the others, well out of earshot.

"You just don't get me at all, do you?"

Auron stopped under one of the lightning towers. He dug his katana in the ground and leaned against the tower, closing his eyes.

"Hey! Are you listening?"

Auron merely stood there. By now, Rikku's face was turning red with frustration.

"I'm not scared! I'm not scared, you hear?"

At this, Auron turned and took off his glasses. He smiled slightly, turned, and placed a swift kiss on Rikku's cheek.

"Good."

He strode confidently back towards the Travel Agency, leaving Rikku alone, turning a whole new shade of red. A crash of lightning on the tower brought her back to her senses. But she realized that she wasn't really afraid anymore. A goofy grin spread across her face.

"Lightning? What lightning? I've got more important things to do!"
