The Ghost Library
On top of the hill, west of our town there was an old, abandoned library. No one had been there for years and because it looked scary no one wanted to buy the land near it. The people of my town started to call it the Ghost Library because there are rumors of ghosts being seen there. That's the reason kids test their courage near it. And exactly one of these tests of courage was the reason I entered the library. I remember it clearly, like it was yesterday.
"I bet you can't spend one night in that library."
"OK. I'll go and prove you that I'm braver than you!"
"If you don't come home with pissed pants you're the winner and I'll give you all the sweets I have but if you lose you'll have to listen to everything I say for a week. Deal?"
"Deal."
That was the bet. I entered the library through the door, strangely it was unlocked. I wandered there for a bit, then I heard footstps and saw a weak light. It must be a ghost! That's what I thought and started to run. The ghost also came running after me, then I yripped and fell down the stairs. Then I fainted. When I woke up I was in a poorly lit by candles room. I torned my head to look around and then I saw her. An albino girl with long white hair and red eyes, she was wearing old, long, librarian clothes, probably found in the building. She treated me and then suggested to show me the library. I agreed. At first I thought it was spooky but then noticed how clean it was. She was probably taking care of it by herself, because there were no other people beside her. When the sun rose I went home. I won the bet, of course but I was still worried about her. So I decided to go and see her from time to time. Soon I began to visit her every day, we became best friends in no time. I played with her and she read me various books, she even allowed me to take some at home if I promised to return them when I'm done. Like that our days together passed. Before we knew it we grew older, almost adults. I thought our days won't change but I was wrong. One day, when I got back from chopping wood in the forest, I saw the people of the town gathering in front of the library. I dropped the wood on the ground and dashed towards it. When I reached they had thrown torches and hat put the library on fire. With the corner of my eye I saw movement in the window of the fourth floor, it was her. She was looking at me with her pleading for help eyes, she was choking because of the smoke. I headed towards the entrance, the people tried to stop me but with a lot of struggle I managed to get in the burning building. The flames were everywhere. With all my strenght I ran towards the room she was in. No matter how painfull it was, I continued to run. When I reached the room she was laying on the ground motionless. She was breathin heavily but at least she was alive. I got to her but it was too late the room also started burning. I hugged her in my hands and said "I's alright, everything will be OK."
"cough Haha... you liar."
Those were the last words she said to me before fainting. As the flames consumed us I stayed with her untill our last moments but even in death we'll always be together, surrounded by books.
