There is a time in our lives when we all do something unnecessarily dangerous to help someone else. Whether we know them, or have only seen them in passing, there is a strange urge we all have to play the hero. The only problem is most of us will end up the martyr.

I'm going to tell you a story about a dear friend of mine, who risked everything he had to twice stand up for the underdog. Sadly the second resulted in his death, but he will be remembered; not by history books but by those whom he helped. His name is Dobby.

"Do not, Dobby!" Winky pleaded as he packed a small bag before he left for the Hogshead.

"I must, Winky!" He shook his head, looking back at her as he stepped away. "Mr Dumbledore says that Harry Potter needs me," he whispered, and with that he disappeared.

He arrived and saw the old Man hurriedly preparing food as Mr Longbottom stood beside him.

"Hi Dobby," Neville smiled, waving his hand. He took the food from a flustered Aberforth and disappeared behind a small painting. Once he had left, the bar keeper approached Dobby, holding Master Sirius' mirror.
"Dobby, they're in trouble, will you help?" he said, his voice sounding slightly strained. Dobby nodded, taking the mirror. He looked at the glass and gasped.
"Dobby knows where they are!" He said, and suddenly disappeared.

Aberforth took a deep breath, a first the second time in his life he prayed.
"Please, let them be safe." He turned back to his work and his eyes landed on a small photograph of two laughing boys. He hovered his finger over the elder one and whispered softly, "I promised, brother, that I would protect them as you have… I've really tried."

This was the last time Aberforth sent the house-elf away, and he first time he never came back. If you look hard, there are more wonders in this universe than you could ever havedreamt of. One of these wonders is the dedication and love that spawns from loyalty, which is the downfall of humanity, even affecting our non-human counterparts.

Long live the memory of those who have fallen.
